  1. neshtaxmpp

moparisthebest: hi. my friend still need help with sslh...

  2. neshtaxmpp

can someone comment id this work for sslh to show in apache2 real ip: https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials/how-to-configure-nginx-as-a-reverse-proxy-for-apache fiest install nginx and then apache2 what port has to be in sslh, what port has to be nginx andwhat port has to be apache2.

  3. moparisthebest

neshtaxmpp: my answer this week is the same as last week https://github.com/yrutschle/sslh/blob/master/README.md#transparent-proxy-support it's a bit off topic for this channel so you'll just have to figure it out yourself from there

  4. moparisthebest

MattJ: thanks for the pointer, ugh I hate writing documentation :)

  5. neshtaxmpp

moparisthebest: what documentation you write. when someone ask you somethink tou dont know it.

  6. dwd

Annoying, my Eurostar has been cancelled, so I'll be even later on Thursday now.

  7. mtavares

dwd, why? too much snow on the tracks or some lame escuse like that?

  8. dwd

    Predicted severe weather conditions.

  9. dwd

Looks like they've cancells the first and third train of the day.

  10. jonas’

    :(

  11. dwd

It's not making it easy to change, either...

  12. goffi

weather is not so nice indeed here

  13. dwd

Frosty here, but no snow - I hear there's snow further east.

  14. goffi

yes it's snowing, and the snow stay

  15. goffi

I guess for trains it's kind of dangerous so they have to take cautions

  16. Kev

Oh, joy. Which did they cancel?

  17. jonas’

I hope you all arrive safe and have a pleasant journey to summit

  18. dwd

    9110 (0647) and 9116 (0854)

  19. jonas’

as mentioned, I’ll attend remotely tomorrow

  20. Kev

https://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/disruption_hub for anyone looking at UK cancellations.

  21. dwd

However, some of todays are cancelled too - looks like the Brussels cancellations are all in the morning though.

  22. dwd

FFS. Eurostart want me to talk to Trainline, Trainline are apparently unreachable by phone.

  23. Kev

It's going to be one of those weeks, I think.

  24. dwd

Your question has been received. You should expect a response from us within 7 days. Subject Eurostar booking cancelled

  25. dwd

Yeah, that is *not* entirely helpful.

  26. jonas’

    m(

  27. Kev

Presumably unreachable means they're not answering, rather than couldn't find a number for them?

  28. Kev

    Try https://www.thetrainline.com/en/help/contact/chat ?

  29. Kev

    dwd ^

  30. dwd

Oh, no. They answer, but helpfully tell me the number I called is only for UK travel. For Eurostar, I need to send an email.

  31. jonas’

    > Currently we are not able to provide you with chat support if travel is outside of the UK

  32. Kev

    Ahhar.

  33. Zash

    Brexit came early to them?

  34. dwd

Amazingly, they've got back to me, claiming they ordinarily can't exchange for free (like Eurostar do), but have to charge - but this time they won't as a goodwill gesture.

  35. Guus

hmm, I'm travelling by train tomorrow morning. This does not bode well.

  36. Guus

(also, you've paid for a trip, which was cancelled by the operator, but you ordinarily have to pay more to get that resolved? Eh?

  37. dwd

    Well, exactly.

  38. Ge0rG

I'm sure there are EU passenger protection rules in place. Yet.

  39. Ge0rG

you are even entitled for a reimbursement for delays over 60min

  40. Ge0rG

(but I wouldn't claim that until after the trip, for strategic reasons)

  41. dwd

Righty, new ticket on the way, and they're refunding me the cost (but it might take 7 days!).

  42. dwd

Top tip for UK folks: Don't use Trainline for booking Eurostar.

  43. MattJ

    What happened?

  44. dwd

MattJ, Train cancelled, and Trainline don't, it seems, like to change the tickets without charging. ANd it's pretty well impossible to get hold of them.

  45. dwd

Right, new ticket arrived - look like I'll just about make it for lunchtime.

  46. Zash

    Need more night trains

  47. Tobias

Yeah. The only night trains I know cross EU are from Austrian railway and Russian railway.

  48. dwd

Cross-EU? Yes, probably. Inside countries, most sleeper services have been shut down, though the Caledonian Sleeper still runs.

  49. dwd

But that's less a train than a mobile drinking session from what I've heard.

  50. jonas’

fun sidenote: the german train company thing (Deutsche Bahn) sold their sleeper trains in germany after having run them non-profitably. The austrian service bought them and seems to be making good money out of it.

  51. Tobias

The Russian train goes from Moscow to (Paris or Nice). Takes nearly two days.

  52. Seve

    Is it even worth it?

  53. Kev

    Going to France? Unlikely :D

  54. Zash

Chilling on a train for two days sounds nice

  55. Kev

I'd probably get more work done than a week at home. I seem to be particularly productive on trains for some reason.

  56. Kev

(Which sounds like an excellent reason not to do it)

  57. Guus

I wonder if there are train subscriptions that are cheaper than renting office space.

  58. jonas’

    4.4kEUR for 1 year in germany, 2nd class (7.4k 1st class)

  59. Zash

    That's cheaper than my apartment

  60. Kev

It does rather depend on the type of journey and the seat I have ;)

  61. jonas’

    no showers though

  62. jonas’

(although I don’t know if there’s anything in the 1st class area of train stations in that regard)

  63. Guus

I wasn't implying living in a train, just working.

  64. Guus

    network will probably be problematic...

  65. Zash

    No onboard internets?

  66. Guus

I'm not sure about other countries, but that's not very reliable in Dutch trains

  67. Guus

You can do mail and stuff, but a SSH terminal is not recommended.

  68. jonas’

it’s pretty decent in ICEs in germany, actually

  69. Guus

it was awful in the Eurostar

  70. Guus

the onboard network was OK, but they lost coverage while traversing the wide plains of France... 🙂

  71. Zash

Let me tell you about the endless wilderness of northern Sweden

  72. Zash

It's got pretty good coverage actually

  73. moparisthebest

    Guus: mosh ?

  74. jonas’

that can’t fix the latency, can it?

  75. moparisthebest

    That's basically what it's for

  76. jonas’

I thought it’s for seamless reconnects.

  77. jonas’

    ah, local echo magic

  78. Zash

    Fake tho

  79. jonas’

    I don’t trust that ;-)

  80. Ge0rG

jonas’: decent uplink in ICEs is an illusion. You are capped to 200MB per day and train.

  81. Ge0rG

jonas’: and then it's down half of the time, and severely overprovisioned the other half

  82. jonas’

    itym underprovisioned ;-)

  83. jonas’

    (and overallocated)

  84. jonas’

    or did you? or whatever

  85. Ge0rG

    jonas’: what you say.

  86. Ge0rG

anyway, I've mostly made bad experiences with ICE wifi

  87. goffi

yes there is definitely no last call for namespace delegation, I have some modifications waiting from some free time

  88. goffi

and the message talks about XEP-0335 but the item is XEP-0355

  89. goffi

    (talking about council minutes ^)

  90. dwd

Yeah, that was my error, sorry!

  91. goffi

    no worries

  92. Ge0rG

A recent event made me re-prioritize the removal of GC1.0 from the 0045 spec.

  93. Zash

    Mmmm flight delayed

  94. Ge0rG

    Zash: EU passenger rights!

  95. Zash

    How?

  96. jonas’

    I think you’re entitled to a telegraph

  97. jonas’

make f*ing use of that, just to screw with them

  98. jonas’

also, I’d like to get a telegraph.

  99. Ge0rG

jonas’: what do you need a telegraph for?

  100. jonas’

    fur fun

  101. jonas’

    *for fun

  102. Ge0rG

    Mmhmmm... fur fun! 🦊🐺🐻

  103. intosi

    To each their niche

  104. intosi

    😉

  105. tux

It's all fun and games until someone looses a hair.. Or so.
