  1. jonas’

FWIW, conference.jabber.org still seems to list invalid MUCs, but I don’t have the resources at the moment to figure out which those are

  2. Ge0rG

jonas’: at least they all passed the smack JID verifier.

  3. jonas’

they don’t pass the aioxmpp verifier

  4. jonas’

so one of us is wrong :)

  5. ralphm

jonas’: is yours a copy of the one on Twisted?

  6. jonas’

    no

  7. jonas’

own implementation based on the python stringprep module + reading RFC 6122

  8. ralphm

Interesting to see if there are differences.

  9. jonas’

c.j.o is a nice unintended test-case for JID validaiton

  10. dele3

    /modtools

  11. ralphm

jonas’: do you have a particular example?

  12. jonas’

    ralphm, not yet

  13. lovetox_

ah nice, i will run my JID verifier against jabber.org 😃

  14. lovetox_

    but with precis

  15. ralphm

I'd be interested in having at least one example deemed to be an illegal JID.

  16. jonas’

    ralphm, I will post it

  17. jonas’

once I get home and have time to investigate the issue

  18. ralphm

I hacked wokkel to report invalid JIDs and found these: https://gist.github.com/ralphm/8bca378ea7a98ea2ded76af8f847650e

  19. ralphm

(when doing a disco items request on conference.jabber.org)

  20. ralphm

It appears they are either Violation of BIDI Requirement 2 or 3. Most 3.

  21. Alex

Just started memberbot for our Q3-2019 voting period. Feel free to talk to him. Or contact me when you have any issues. Thanks

  22. Seve

    Thank you Alex !!

  23. Guus

    _any_ issues? 😉

  24. ralphm

    I guess you need it.

  25. COM8

How does voting work? Where can I contact the bot as a member? Can't find anything on the wiki about it.

  26. Alex

COM8: you just send a message to the bot xmpp://memberbot@xmpp.org and follow the instructions. If you have not voted before your Jid may not be on the whitelist. In this case let me know and I will handle for you

  27. Alex

COM8: but will be away for the next hour, walking my dogs

  28. COM8

Alex: OK no problem will come back to you. Thanks

  29. ralphm

    no slashes

  30. COM8

Alex: When you are back could you please whitelist: com8@xmpp.uwpx.org

  31. Alex

COM8: will do once I am back and will let you know

  32. Ge0rG

COM8: you should remove the xmpp from your jabber domain. Since the invention of SRV records it's not needed any more, and you can have email = JID

  33. COM8

Ge0rG: Yes, I know but I like to keep stuff separated and since I only use it for "personal" stuff I think this is fine😉 but thanks for the information.
