  1. DebXWoody

Is it possible to get a german mailing list for XMPP User on https://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo ?

  2. DebXWoody

    e.g. xmpp-user-german

  3. Nÿco

    possibly, why not...

  4. Nÿco

you should ask in the XSF MUC, as I don't know who's in charge...

  5. DebXWoody

  6. Nÿco

    thx! :)

  7. Nÿco

I post on Mastodon and Twitter, then I write the newsletter

  8. Nÿco

  9. Nÿco

we've passed the symbolic 50k impressions over 28 days

  10. emus

    cool! 🍻

  11. Nÿco

    beer? no wine! :)

  12. emus

    Wine is not an emulator

  13. emus

  14. Nÿco

well, with a few glasses you can "emulate" different social skills :)

  15. Nÿco

if anyone wants to review: https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/XMPP_Newsletter_December_2019

  16. Nÿco

I'll soon start to prepare the PR

  17. Licaon_Kter

Nÿco: ejabberd 19.09.1 was in Nov too

  18. Nÿco

  21. Nÿco

  22. Nÿco

all right: * stop, the newsletter is closed for additions... * I am translating it into markdown, and doing a PR * once the PR is made public you'll again able to review

  23. Nÿco

PR ready for your reviews! :) https://github.com/xsf/xmpp.org/pull/660

  24. Nÿco

hurry up, Guus is already on it, don't let him eat all the cake!!!

  25. Nÿco

  26. pep.

https://www.edivaldobrito.com.br/cliente-jabber-xmpp-dino-no-linux/ maybe he should fix the url :p

  27. pep.

    no / on

  28. Guus

  29. Guus

    sorry, couldn't resist.

  30. Guus

    Also, I _just_ had cake

  31. Guus

    as in, real world cake

  32. pep.

    I want cake now..

  33. pep.

I'll have to see if I can bake one for myself

  34. Guus

so stop messing with my mind, Nÿco !

  35. SouL

sorry I can't check today, black friday

  36. SouL

    sorry Nÿco

  37. pep.

SouL, you're busy going to the shopping mall? :P

  38. Nÿco

    I struggle with languages: * Technical * English * Mediawiki * Markdown * Sarcasm :)

  39. pep.

ugh I hate github. They made it so that you can't middle click to open a new tab on most of their UI components anymore..

  40. pep.

You have to right click -> open in a new tab

  41. Nÿco

    Ctrl + click ?

  42. pep.

    Same issue

  43. pep.

    Ah no

  44. Nÿco

    yeah, but one less movement

  45. pep.

I'm more used to my middle click anyway

  46. Nÿco

    works as well

  47. pep.

Nÿco, do you know where do contact that person? here somewhere?

  48. pep. checks the website

  49. Nÿco

  50. pep.

    hmm, maybe that's just portuguese

  51. pep.

At least that's what gtranslate says :-°

  52. pep.

I'm not sure about pictures.. let's see

  53. pep.

Seems like you can put this under content/images/

  54. pep.

And then reference it under /images/..., like <img src="/images/logos/tigase.png" alt="Tigase">

  55. pep.

So in markdown that would be.. ![](/images/...)

  56. Nÿco

sure, now how do you upload pics on a PR in GitHub.com ?

  57. pep.

I don't know if we have a policy/conventions regarding this

  58. pep.

You don't upload pics on github.com, you use git

  59. Nÿco

(we can't upload pics on our wiki)

  60. pep.

    I never use github's interface

  61. pep.

    I mean to commit stuff

  62. Nÿco

    so I don't use git

  63. Nÿco

and after GitHub, there is Tinyletter

  64. Nÿco

so anyway, it stays a real pain

  65. pep.

    How does tinyletter work?

  66. pep.

    What does it do

  67. Nÿco

it sends an email to all the subscribers, there is a WYSIWYG editor, let me do a screenshot

  68. Nÿco

  69. pep.

So you copy the thing you commited in there and it sends it?

  70. Nÿco

  71. Nÿco

    pics is a pain

  72. pep.

  73. pep.

There seem to be a pics button

  74. Nÿco

also, copying the rendering of the Markdown does not always work inserts lines

  75. pep.

But that wasn't my question anyway

  76. Nÿco

yeah, pics button, so no copy-paste

  77. pep.

    Ah that's what you meant

  78. Nÿco

    sure, hosting files at home...

  79. Nÿco

I'm ready to change, but the process is a huge massive pain: mediawiki, GH markdown, Tinyletter

  80. Nÿco

so having pics on a third part service is actually a reliever for me, since it's the same link for all

  81. pep.

It was just a question fwiw

  82. pep.

I don't know what has been done before

  83. Nÿco

but you are right about the hosting

  84. pep.

I don't know if we have conventions either

  85. pep.

But yeah we might want to think about it at some point

  86. Nÿco

    yes, please

  87. Nÿco

I failed so far to find a better solution, due to lack of knowledge mainly

  88. pep.

If we have a picture on website we can reference it everywhere, it's the same tbh

  89. Nÿco

  90. Nÿco

plus, when we have a matomo on xmpp.org, it will be even better to host those pictures by ourselves

  91. Nÿco

because framapic does not collect data I believe, but when framapic disappears, we may migrate to a service that does collect data

  92. Licaon_Kter

Nÿco: can you rename me to Licaon_Kter or better yet remove me? I did not help that much, c'mon

  93. Nÿco

    as you wish, what option?

  94. Licaon_Kter

    Nÿco: remove for now, thanks

  95. SouL

    >SouL, you're busy going to the shopping mall? :P Working
