Good morning, everyone! I just noticed the Nov edition of the newsletter in my mailbox - supposedly, the last one this year. Having remembered adding some notes about MongooseIM to https://yopad.eu/p/xmpp-newsletter-365days - as suggested at https://xmpp.org/newsletter/, I hurried to check how it ended up in the final newsletter. So how? Surprise - not at all! The change from https://yopad.eu/p/xmpp-newsletter-365days was never moved to a GitHub PR, though other changes then present in yopad were. I can still find the text in yopad's history - https://yopad.eu/p/xmpp-newsletter-365days/timeslider#18439 - thought it takes a while to load the snapshot. Moreover, I can see that more changes removed just after https://yopad.eu/p/xmpp-newsletter-365days/timeslider#18558 made it to the newsletter (for example the mention of xmpp-dns or PeerTube), but not the MongooseIM one. It seems the process with a lighter tool - yopad - instead of directly working with GH PR's seems less than perfect. Do you think reissuing this edition of the newsletter is possible? Otherwise, the MongooseIM 5.0 release won't be covered at all this year.

For the context, the PR omitting the info about MIM is https://github.com/xsf/xmpp.org/commit/66ba14c2b7be6a329459ecd2d1f3ef1060a42079#diff-9badcd36b419c2ba79337c90cae7f037ff67ba53725fcc7d8e35f2969d0c8738

    :(

  6. Licaon_Kter

I guess an oversight on copy/pasta

  7. emus

erszcz: Im a bit confused whats the matter. What article are you missing?

  8. Licaon_Kter

emus: the Mongoose Server news didn't end up in the Github PR, but was on the Pad before the cleanup

  9. emus

hmmmmm maybe copy paste fail. erszcz: can you do a PR for this?

  10. erszcz

emus: the note about MongooseIM: > MongooseIM 5.0 was released on 7th October! What’s new? Dynamic XMPP domains, improved documentation, multiple bugs fixed and more. Virtual hosting XMPP domains was already possible with MongooseIM, but dynamic domains make it possible to add new domains without restarting the server - and to add a lot of them! Load tests with up to 100k users have shown that now there's practically no difference between all the users connecting to a single domain and all of them connecting to 100k domains - that is one domain per user - yes, it's that flexible! BTW, it does mention October 7th, but it was only added for the November edition of the newsletter - maybe that's where the confusion came from

  11. erszcz

    > erszcz: can you do a PR for this? I'm happy to do a PR in a few minutes

  12. nicfab

Hi everybody! Here is the Italian translation of the XMPP Newsletter November 2021 https://www.nicfab.it/newsletter-xmpp-di-novembre-2021-versione-italiana/

  13. emus

erszcz: Ok. now I understand. And I have to apologize. I remember I were asking for you but got no response. I took it out as there was no news linked directly. I wanted to discuss this, but then missed it out.

  14. emus

So, is there any news effectively? or something to link to?

  15. erszcz

    Here's the PR: https://github.com/xsf/xmpp.org/pull/1032

  16. erszcz

the news is that version 5.0 was released

  17. erszcz

ahh, maybe it's that I didn't include a link - let me fix that

  18. erszcz

emus > I remember I were asking for you but got no response I might've been away, sorry for that - I was taking some time off soon after adding the notes to yopad. Good we got it sorted!
