  1. emus

    Sam:

  2. emus

How is it about the OH?

  3. COM8

    > Next week is COM8 talk? Yes

  4. emus

COM8: can you tell me a short title? and for what time you propsed? (and its tuesday right?)

  5. emus

can I announce you by your real name?

  6. vanitasvitae

XMPP (or Jabber rather) was mentioned as a positive example for interoperability on the German ZDF Magazin Royal: (https://youtu.be/DdIwus87eLM)

  7. emus

    😮

  8. emus

    TL;DR https://youtu.be/DdIwus87eLM?t=844

  9. emus

COM8 & Sam friendly reminder that I need some input

  10. Sam

emus: it's all on the wiki and the calendar

  11. emus

hmm but I did not saw it

  12. emus

    ah directly on the website

  13. emus

its not in the pad yet

  14. Sam

Oh yah, I forgot about the pad. Either way, I said "wiki" not pad :)

  15. emus

    haha

  16. Sam

I'll go remove the pad, no sense in keeping up with it now that it's not the signup form, just more things to forget.

  17. emus

ok but where is the calendar then?

  18. Sam

The official XSF calendar? It's also linked from the wiki I think

  19. emus

and also tracking of previous talks?

  20. emus

    I don't think so

  21. Sam

I don't really care about tracking the previous talks, if someone else wants to do that they can

  22. Sam

(probably best to move that to the wiki too instead of continuing to use an external thing)

  23. emus

Can you at least do this and we try to ask newcommers to make their entry?

  24. emus

    Or I do it then

  25. Sam

    Do what?

  26. emus

move it to the wiki too

  27. Sam

We shouldn't ask newcommers to fill out the form and do more work. Also most won't have a wiki account

  28. emus

    or wait

  29. emus

maybe leave the pad just for the moment

  30. Sam

I can't even edit the pad anymore apparently; weird. Anyways, I'm not going to delete it or anything, but I'll remove it from the wiki page so people don't get confused and use the old thing

  31. emus

Because it wont be able to organise if I cannot see what going on in a list like this

  32. emus

    no please dont delete

  33. Sam

I don't understand what you even want to use the pad for; the next talk is on the wiki, people submit a form to request new slots, what does having a separate document with that do?

  34. emus

I am just convinced we should have it documented as we have the list of previous talks there at lease

  35. Sam

    Why?

  36. Sam

I mean, I'm not against it, I just don't want to do it. The only reason it was a list before was because the pad was being used for signups, but we have a better way to do that now

  37. emus

Yes agreed. But if people want me to announce it I need some reference. I don't have the link yet and we should place it in the wiki in general. Yes ok, but then let's find a way to document. I often refer to these topic from a public perspective, the more we do the more important it becomes. A calendar is not useful for this I think

  38. Sam

The wiki is a good enough reference, why do we need another one?

  39. emus

no, no other one. Just these listed entries we have there on the page: "Previous talks!

  40. emus

no, no other one. Just these listed entries we have there on the page: "Previous talks"

  41. Sam

I mean, feel free to update that if you want. I wasn't keeping it up to date, it's just a few examples to get people into watching them.

  42. Sam

We should probably move it to a separate page if you're going to try to keep it up to date, but I suspect it's just going to get out of date anyways when people forget to update it.

  43. emus

Well, then it would be on the XSF Office Hours page, right?

  44. Sam

    What would be?

  45. emus

list of old talks and upcoming?

  46. emus

    https://xmpp.org/community/officehours/

  47. emus

wurstsalat, don't we had these announcement tiles?

  48. Sam

    I don't understand what you're asking

  49. emus

Put this: Next Talk 2021-12-14T17:00Z "Fighting Windows and XMPP - Building a (modern?) Windows XMPP Client" by Fabian Sauter A demo of UWPX. Previous Talks Some (but not all) previous talks can be found on our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCf3Kq2ElJDFQhYDdjn18RuA Here are a few examples of great talks we've had recently! "Intro to JMAP" by Daniel Gultsch, 2021-04-27 1600 UTC "Intro to XMPP" by Sam Whited Round Table Discussion: "Towards XMPP 2.0" "Cryptographic Identity: Conquering the Fingerprint Chaos" by Paul Schaub (vanitasvitae) "Soprani.ca: bridging us all together" by Stephen Paul Weber (singpolyma) "Designing Message Styling" by Sam Whited "Verifying A/V Calls with OMEMO: The Art of the Hack" by Daniel Gultsch

  50. emus

    on the website

  51. Sam

Oh, I don't want to do that, it's too much of a pain in the ass to update the website, someone else can if they want

  52. emus

but then I did not understand where you wanted to migrate it to?

  53. Sam

I didn't, I never said anything about the website

  54. Sam

I've been talking about the wiki this whole time, sorry if there was some confusion.

  55. emus

I was refering to this: "We should probably move it to a separate page if you're going to try to keep it up to date, but I suspect it's just going to get out of date anyways when people forget to update it."

  56. Sam

    *page on the wiki

  57. emus

ok, but this I don't understand, if we want not not invest more work, we should keep it as it is and I can try to keep it up to day

  58. Sam

Do what you want, it doesn't matter to me, I'll just keep updating the next talk section and announcing them like I've been doing ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  59. Sam

I'm just not going to update the pad anymore because I don't see the point now that we have a better signup system

  60. emus

Yes Sam that's fine. But I also need to invest time and do the tweets I have not time for. So I would be happy to align. E.g. I did not know that it is on the XSF calender (I still have no link to)

  61. Sam

There is a link to the XSF calendar on the wiki, I don't know what it is off the top of my head

  62. Sam

The next talk is also on the wiki, so that's a good place to pull info from for the tweets.

  63. Sam

oops, just noticed I put this one on the wrong calendar; moving it to the XSF one.

  64. emus

yes, I did saw it because I was only looking at the pad I still cannot find the link to the Calendar

  65. Sam

It's on the wiki homepage. Ctrl+F is your friend.

  66. emus

ok, that was the most confusing thing ever. I will put it to the XSF Hours page I was looking

  67. Sam

Sorry about the confusion with the pad, I removed the link to it from the wiki so that people won't find it and will add a note to it saying that it's no longer being updated so as not to confuse anyone else who might have bookmarked it

  68. Sam

Well, if I can figure out why I can't edit it anymore

  69. Sam

    Fixed.

  70. Sam

I didn't delete it in case you wanted it though, just added some text linking back to the wiki and saying that up to date information is there.
