...in the browser, just viewing, not sure about how an actual AP account would interact.

  10. MattJ

Yeah, I can view the profile and posts normally if I visit the instance directly. Just can't view them from my own account.

  11. MattJ

    Which means I can't reply

  12. Licaon_Kter

  18. emus

    yes

  19. emus

Toxi: but you are free to use your version of the logo?

Toxi: but you are free to use your version of the logo

  21. Toxi

No, I hope you don't mean that. It's a logo, and even if it's the logo of a consortium, not everyone is allowed to change it the way they like. A consortium, even if it is a collection of companies, is again a civil law company, with all the distinctive signs of a company. And this includes the logo, which is a distinctive mark and protected by law. If the consortium has a logo, it was handed over to the notary when it was created. Changes to the logo must be recorded by a notary. This logo seems to belong to the XMPP Standards Foundation, which is a legal entity. Copyright of the logo has apparently a certain Raja Sandhu and a certain Ludovic Bocquet. "JABBER® is a registered trademark and its use is granted under a sublicense from the XMPP Standards Foundation." Buuuut You seem to be right, The consortium is not mentioned anywhere.

  22. Link Mauve

Toxi, the XSF is not a consortium, it is a non-profit in the state of Delaware in the USA.

  23. TheCoffeMaker

    Hi here!

  24. TheCoffeMaker

Abt the xmpp day ... I can help to organize something in Buenos Aires, Argentina

  25. ralphm

While this has not been made very clear, and Board definitely should make this explicit, I believe that the XMPP logo is covered by https://xmpp.org/about/xsf/ipr-policy/, even though it is not a XEP. "XMPP" is not a (trade)mark at all, as it was explicitly created to avoid having a trademark for the protocols when we started the standardization process over at IETF.

  26. emus

TheCoffeMaker: nice we need more support in the Spanish community. If you have time and resource we would also be happy to see a spanish translation for the newsletter on a regular basis

  27. emus

ralphm: so they are allowed to change it? If there are thing to improve in communication. I would be happy to support such clarifications on the website

  28. TheCoffeMaker

    > TheCoffeMaker: nice we need more support in the Spanish community. If you have time and resource we would also be happy to see a spanish translation for the newsletter on a regular basis Sure ... Will be on vacations starting next week so I will have time for that ... emus Do I need something special? Like access to a repo?

  29. TheCoffeMaker

I been organizing FLISOL locally in Buenos Aires and at Argentine level ... Also been organizing the Software Freedom day

  30. emus

TheCoffeMaker: It depends how much and what you want to do. The workflow so was was: draft ready by the 2nd or 3rd of the month. release on the 5th of the month. Then or maybe a bit erarlier you could start with translations. We offer to host on the xsf website (then you would need to PR) or you can publicate on your own domain as it newsletter is licensed under CC

  31. emus

    TheCoffeMaker: thats really great

  32. TheCoffeMaker

emus: good ...as soon I can start the better, Im in a meeting right now ... Will ping u later to ask u for more details

  33. emus

sure, you can also look at the DE, FR or IT translations

  34. ralphm

emus: depends on what you mean with "change it". A thing that's different from the logo we use is not our logo anymore. People have already been remixing parts of the logo for their efforts and that is fine. E.g. the (proposed) Jingle logo: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jingle_(protocol)

  35. sebastian

TheCoffeMaker, nice idea actually.. I did not think of actual "Conferences". One could think of offereing little events like on "Linux Presentation Day", if you have heard of that - probably not, i just see that although its english name, it seems to be a german invention. https://de-m-wikipedia-org.translate.goog/wiki/Linux_Presentation_Day?_x_tr_sl=auto&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=de Maybe just write your ideas about that in the document/pad i shared today, some more lines back in the history... Lets see if we find enough people to support this...

  36. TheCoffeMaker

sebastian: oki ... Will do write down that on the pad
