  1. gnemmi

    Hello everyone

  2. gnemmi

    Just added to the pad

  3. gnemmi

    ### Proposed

  4. gnemmi

    - [Pubsub Node Relationships](https://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/pubsub-node-relationships.html)

  5. gnemmi

    ### Updated

  6. gnemmi

    - Version 1.6.2 of [XEP-0198](https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0198.html) (Stream Management) - Clarify server enabling stream management without requested resume functionality. (gk)

  7. gnemmi

something seems off though .. 1.6.2 of [XEP-0198] is dated as "Version 1.6.2 (2024-09-24)" in the link .. but the mail on the list is dated 14 Oct 2024 10:10 a.m. 🤔

  9. gnemmi

Welp .. there's a lot of time to fix it if needed though

  10. cal0pteryx

gnemmi: thanks for adding all those news :) don't worry about the date

  11. gnemmi

    cal0pteryx, my pleasure! 🤗

  12. Schimon

gnemmi. Mr. anjan is the author of the article https://momi.ca/posts/2024-10-09-honeybee.html

  13. Schimon

I have asked him to join to this group chat, in case there are questions for further elaboration.

  14. anjan

Hi y'all! I'm here for any questions you may have :)

  15. debacle

anjan Cool, that you that in zig :-) Too bad, that zig is not yet in Debian and therefore it will take some time until your client will show up on my Mobian phone.

anjan Cool, that you do that in zig :-) Too bad, that zig is not yet in Debian and therefore it will take some time until your client will show up on my Mobian phone.

  17. Schimon

debacle. Which device do you use for your Mobian installation?

  18. Schimon

anjan and myself both use POCO F1 for postmarketOS.

  19. debacle

I have a PinePhone "amateur" (i.e. not "pro")

  20. debacle

But let's move that talk elsewhere, it is not related to XMPP commteam stuff ;-)

  21. Schimon

Sure. Speaking of which. I want to encourage integration of XMPP into the account manager of (GNOME, Phosh, and Plasma).

  22. Kris

Probably existed in the past and was removed. Pretty sure for KDE at least.

  23. debacle

Yes, just downgrade to Gnome 1 or 2 and you have it!

  24. Schimon

    This is surprising!

  25. Schimon

I sense, that a removal would be done due to bribe from elemetns with a special interest to censor XMPP.

  26. Schimon

Kris. Do you have a reference of the removal?

  27. Kris

Na, just people who think xmpp is dead

  28. Kris

    No sinister motived

    No sinister motives

  30. Schimon

I only use XMPP. The secondary reason for creating the Slixfeed bot, is to encourage people, that I know, to use XMPP. So far, I have over 40 people from my area, who are connected to XMPP, and use Slixfeed.

  33. Schimon

A software that could make use of XMPP integration into account manager would be Reeder.

  34. TheCoffeMaker

Portable XMPP & OMEMO implementations in C. Allegedly runs on ESP32 didn't try it yet https://github.com/mierenhoop/xmpp But they also say > Do not use the code in this repository for anything serious; there might be unidentified security vulnerabilities present. You are encouraged to report such issues when found.

  35. Kris

Could be intetesting to check if it compiles via WASM.

  36. Kris

TheCoffeMaker: that seems more like standard boilerplate for any cryptography project made by a hobbyist.

  37. TheCoffeMaker

    agree

  38. Schimon

I think, that xmpp.org should have an additional index for XMPP software, that are not intended for average people, so called, and also abandoned projects. Such index would increase the probability , that omeone would develop new software, or continue abandoned projects. For example: Jappix, Kaiwa, Pandion, Speeqe and more.

  39. TheCoffeMaker

mmm a list of that kind can be misleading if the abandoned projects gain traction once again

  40. Schimon

    TheCoffeMaker. How so?

  41. Schimon

I, for instance, consider to continue Speeqe. Yet, I probably would not have even think of it, if I did not know about it, a decade ago. Hence, I think, that a centralized index should be useful.

  42. TheCoffeMaker

    > TheCoffeMaker. How so? I guess it will required someone's effort to keep it updated and easily get outdated because u yould keep an eye in all projects development

It usually happens through not maintaing a doap file
