No reason to install ngnix only for prosody, and proxy65 could just be on the virtualhost domain. And mod_turn_external is easier then external services, also why pubsub? But at least they wrote a guide, and one that doesn't have outdated config 🙂. And here I am, still haven't managed to do that.

I was thinking of a new way to present XMPP. Maybe it would be interesting to show XMPP as the "first social network where all your data is stored on your account". ActivityPub is basically just a way to "standardize" interaction between different kind of platforms, but you end up creating an account on Mastodon, Pixelfeed, Peertube... and host your data on each of them. With XMPP and all the XEPs we actually have a separation between the data/account layer = the XMPP servers and the presentation = the clients.

I just added Stories to Movim, the look and feel is very similar to all the Stories features you can find on the other platforms, but it's actually the first time you host your Stories and media on your actual account and people subscribe to them.

It's the first time we can also actually say "create an account once, use it everywhere"

It would be nice to push OAuth to really make this more secure on XMPP (and don't give your credentials around), it should not be very difficult technically. And the network/architecture is already there.

What is interesting with Stories is that its basically good old PEP, so it means that most of the XMPP servers already support it pretty well. You can quickly achieve important deployment of new social features by just proposing them in clients without having to rollout new versions on all the servers of the network.

I might write an article on that for Movim but I was thinking that maybe it would be nice to push those ideas more broadly on the XMPP communication streams.
