> It would be nice to push OAuth to really make this more secure on XMPP (and don't give your credentials around), it should not be very difficult technically. And the network/architecture is already there. 👍 ↺

> What is interesting with Stories is that its basically good old PEP, so it means that most of the XMPP servers already support it pretty well. You can quickly achieve important deployment of new social features by just proposing them in clients without having to rollout new versions on all the servers of the network. It is a bit like Bluesky in that regard. ↺

> edhelas, that sounds great and is certainly a good claim "first social network where all your data is stored on your account" Yes. I agree. Two (three, soon) projects of mine are based upon this idea, which Movim was the inspiration of. ↺

Schimon: people on mastodon like their "nomadic identity" XMPP has a xeps like here: https://docs.modernxmpp.org/projects/portability/ But basically nobody implements it and it doesn't do message history or pubsub nodes a user controls. I think something like that would be an awesome feature for many.

Menel. Thank you for the reference. I did not know of XEP-0227: Portable Import/Export Format for XMPP-IM Servers

Snikket supports what is described there. Since I can't code or do web development I can't expose an UI on my server for that mentioned xep227 http-api.. Oh well... Just the above mentioned user control of your pep nodes made me think about it. If they could be transfered, they really would be in the users control...
