emus: I got this in my Mastondon client

  3. emus

Hi all, I am really sorry. I have been very much silent in the recent months. Even further not helped nor pushed out the work you did on the channels. I claim to correct this and be more active with helping the works you do! To start with, we just pushed this out: https://fosstodon.org/@xmpp/114235801609817484 I invite the translators to help translating this too, so we can reach many more people. And/or we publish a simple language summary that we can trabslate to many languages. what do you think?

Just let me know how did you send a letter to Meta. Last time had to send a snail mail to their EU headquarters in Dublin to be contacted by their lawyers in Italy, the same lawyers I had contacted before and said me they did not represent Meta 🀣🀣🀣

  18. ralphm

I've sent it to their press email. We'll see if they received it.

  19. Mari0

We do need a regulator who applies sanctions. This is the only way to obtain something. They only understand money and interoperability means a continue loss of users (and of money, of course).

    > I've sent it to their press email. We'll see if they received it. πŸ‘

  21. Mari0

    > I've sent it to their press email. We'll see if they received it. The funny thing is that a company like Meta has not a contact mail for legal requests. Even public prosecutors have to compile a form in their website.

  22. Mari0

    > I've sent it to their press email. We'll see if they received it. Hope they'll give feedback. Your initiative is good and I appreciate it.

  23. Mari0

Daniel wrote an article about this topic: https://gultsch.de/regulations.html

  24. Mari0

    > However the most predominant reason on why companies don’t federate – despite the fact that they are using XMPP, and federating with other XMPP server would be as simple as flipping a switch – is that it doesn’t work with their business model.

  25. Mari0

    > It is easy to understand why federation and interoperability goes against that business model. If your users can just move to a different server once you start sending advertisements or install a different app as soon you start showing ads in it, your vague promise of a future revenue stream falls apart. Aside from that, a truly federated ecosystem has no way of measuring its users so it is impossible to achieve the rapid growth investors demand simply because it is not quantifiable.

  26. Mari0

And here he was talking about VC and startups
