    > I don't think that's necessary, that information is already in the link. I was planning on mentioning the press-kit update once the next Font Awesome release, the one that will include our logo, is available. Ah, that makes sense

  2. badrihippo

    > badrihippo, if you want to help, you can add the entry for the https://blog.jmp.chat/b/december-newsletter-2025 especially the launch of cheogram www alpha is mentioned Sure. Today's a busy day for me, but I'll do it tomorrow (assuming no one else has already)

    > I not sure about that, at all. There are has been dozens of entries that we could (and probably should) have mentioned again "in case someone missed it". We would, first, have to set a criteria on when/what/why we should mention something again .. or run the risk to expose ourselves to set a precedent to haphazardly start rementioning this or that old news at anyones fancy. I see, that makes sense. I suppose people who missed it will be reminded soon enough whenever Borogove release its next version 🙃️

  5. debacle

Dears, this is mainly relevant to the DE community: Two prominent guys of the "DE net community", Linus Neumann (https://23.social/@linuzifer) and Marc-Uwe Kling (https://cultur.social/@marcuwekling), announced a montly "digital independence day". Every first Sunday of the month, people are encouraged to move away from some big tech stuff: https://di.day/ Now it happens, that the first di-day is 2026-01-04, i.e. *JabberDay* (Jabber has been published on 1999-01-04). I wonder, if we should/could take advantage of the high visibility (it's even in the national news: https://mastodon.social/@sveckert/115796367362896257) of di-day to promote Jabber? Somebody can create a nice logo, icon or share pic focussing on Jabber and digital autonomy, digitial independance or digital souvreignty?

Axel reached out for this already

  7. Axel

What I did: I wrote a mail to hallo@di.day (from a user perspektive) and explained why it would be a good idea to add XMPP to the toppings section of https://di.day/whats-app-zu-signal/

  9. debacle

Axel, emus: They call it "independence day" and promote a centralised service on the US AWS? (AWS = "away with Signal", btw.) No problem, if people *like* Signal, because it has good privacy. No problem, if people *like* Whatsapp, because their friends are there. But don't call it independence. Sorry for the rant. I'll shut up now.

From an XMPP perspective, a Quicksy cooking guide with toppings for other Apps (Conversations, ...) would have been better... in that case the website is not really consistently because it only focuses on security aspects and leaving Meta instead of real independence. Maybe the idea was: This is a way, a normal user is willing to go... because the UX is nearly the same... But... I think this project is very new and maybe there is a chance to explain it to the team. It's also important that Kuketz rates the apps mainly in respect to security (which is the focus of kuketz blog). But in case of independence there might be other aspects.

  14. debacle

Yes, unfortunately, various aspects of IT (security, privacy, digital souvreignty, etc.) are mixed all the time. And security is reduced to the "C" of "CIA". Well, let's hope, they will at least mention Jabber/XMPP.

    > I would very much rather you, and everyone else for that matter, boosting the Monocles toot on Mastodon (or my own toots on Mastodon) before the free download offer time runs out. I'll be doing a remider toot tomorrow. Everyone: I just posted my reminder toot, feel free to boost out the roof. https://mastodon.sdf.org/@gnemmi/115804349032298476
