Hi commteam! During the XSF Board meeting today, we discussed follow-ups from the Summit around outreach and first impressions of XMPP. One concrete area that came up was the state of relevant Wikipedia pages - in particular the XMPP page, and (via COI-compliant processes) references to the XSF and the broader XMPP ecosystem.

The Board agreed that improving these pages could be high-impact, long-term work, and asked whether the CommTeam would be willing to take the lead on this, if you have interest and capacity. This is very explicitly a request, not a directive - we're aware you're all volunteers.

For context: some initial groundwork has already started on the Talk page for the English Wikipedia article on the XSF. The hope would be that, if this feels feasible, the CommTeam could build on that and potentially extend the effort to other relevant pages (related topics, and possibly translations).

It's important that we do this carefully: following Wikipedia's guidelines, keeping content neutral and well-sourced, and properly handling Conflict of Interest procedures (e.g., using talk pages and third-party editors). That can be a bit tricky, but it is doable.

If this feels like a worthwhile area to invest some energy in, the Board would strongly welcome it and will support you as much as possible.
