Dears, I'm going to print hexstickers about Jabber/XMPP. Do you have any nice motives? I think about "Jabber — fediverse of chat since 1999" and "Use Jabber — Do Crime" (a pun on the German federal crimiinal police BKA), but I'm open to better ideas.

Btw. I will do hexstickers in English and in Spanish, maybe also German or Portuguese.

I do not like the 'do crime' variant, as that is likely to be misunderstood by a lot of people.

Many of them are a little bit to "technical" for my taste. Do you have any specific one in mind? One that you (or others here) would like to see on a sticker? ↺

imho the lack of a pronouncable name really hinders adoption

coincidentally I was just asked a few moments ago: "oh you don't use whatsapp, what do you use?" and after a moment of doubt I said XMPP and I could see the face of confusion in the person's face, which does not promote the urge to look it up like it would if it were a more a catchy name

I've had people try to search for Conversations on the Apple store before

But the people who search XMPP don't tend to succeed much either

or even look it up in google store and dismiss it as paid

and I don't think that part would be better if it was called "Jabber", because there wouldn't be a Jabber app

I think there's value in the Snikket initiative

I guess many client options would show up in a search for "jabber" just like they do when searching "xmpp" @ fdroid

likewise a search for "email" would show up many email clients. although plagued with shitware of course as is the case with those app "stores"
