    *wave*

  24. Kev

I've chased Matt, who's the only person online.

  25. Kev

    But he's away.

  26. stpeter

    losers

  27. stpeter

we need to elect a new council

  28. stpeter

oh, we're doing that today :)

  29. stpeter

    throw da bums out!

  30. Kev

Well, in past years everyone turning up 15mins late has been fairly common.

  31. Kev

So we'll give them a few minutes. This year's Council have been slightly more dilligent and punctual than many have been :)

  32. Kev

    IMHOYMMVIANAL

  33. Tobias

    heh

  34. Kev

I wanted to get my protoXEP approved :(

  35. stpeter

    were any objections raised?

  36. Kev

No, but tonight's the start of the objection period.

  37. stpeter

    ah!

  38. Kev

But only if there's a meeting, which there isn't unless two more people turn up.

  39. stpeter

    hmph

  40. stpeter

    yeah

  41. stpeter

    I'm not seeing people online

  42. Kev

    Me neither.

  43. remko has joined

  44. Kev

    So that's 2/3 of quorum.

  45. remko

    hidilyho

  46. Kev

I think we're fast approaching the point that we just give up.

  47. Kev

    Matt is online again now...

  48. MattJ has joined

  49. Kev

    Quorum!

  50. MattJ

    Sorry folks

  51. Kev

    1) Roll call.

  52. Kev

    Kevin, Remko and Matt.

  53. Kev

    2) Agenda bashing.

  55. MattJ

    None

  56. Kev

We now have an 8 minute meeting instead of the usual 30 :)

  57. Kev

    3) XEP-0201 (Threads) http://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0201.html Advance to Active?

  58. stpeter

    hehe

  59. MattJ

    +1 :)

  60. stpeter

I suppose the new Council might need to vote on this one anyway

  61. Kev

I think this is something that needs to be updated as we get real deployment experience with threads, but I'm fine with it now anyway.

  62. stpeter

if the old Council doesn't complete its voting :)

  63. Kev

stpeter: I don't think so, we have quorum tonight.

  64. stpeter

    ah, true

  65. remko

    +1

  66. Kev

So if Ralph and Fritzy don't -1 it in the next fortnight, their votes are +0, and it goes through with a majority.

  67. stpeter

    "DNV" baby!

  68. Kev

    4) XEP-xxxx: Federated MUC for constrained environments http://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/fmuc.html Accept as Experimental?

  69. remko

    +1

  70. MattJ

    +1 to accepting

  71. Kev

I am, obviously, also in favour.

  72. Kev

    4) XEP-xxxx: Federated MUC for constrained environments http://xmpp.org/extensions/inbox/fmuc.html Accept as Experimental?

  73. MattJ

I haven't given it a thorough read, but it specs out roughly what I was already thinking was the best approach

  74. Kev

    Uhm

  75. Kev

    5) Procedure: Inviting authors to meetings. Philipp Hancke requests authors be invited, discuss.

  76. Kev

MattJ: Right, rooms join rooms, with graceful degradation for slow links.

  77. MattJ

First thought: Haven't we discussed this before?

  78. Kev

    Almost.

  79. Kev

We discussed inviting people for accepting protoXEPs.

  80. MattJ

    Ah, I see

  81. Kev

We roughly agreed, I tried it with the first few people who didn't normally turn up anyway, and they said they were too busy.

  82. MattJ

    Heh

  83. MattJ

I think there are two things here

  84. stpeter

I'm looking forward to (re-)reading all the fedmuc proposals

  85. Kev

Philipp suggested inviting people every time their XEPs were on the agenda. I mostly put it here so it can be an action for next Council to discuss.

  86. MattJ

One is whether we notify authors when their spec is on the agenda

  87. Kev

As I don't think this Council needs to make a decision on it.

  88. MattJ

This seems reasonable, though it could be argued they should follow their specs closer

  89. stpeter

maybe we should invite Council members :)

  90. Tobias

    heh

  91. Kev

stpeter: Yes, that might be nice.

  92. MattJ

The second is whether we /require/ them to be there, which was also discussed previously - I don't think we need go down that route :)

  93. MattJ

stpeter, I'm working on a council bot, FWIW :)

  94. stpeter

    excellent!

  95. MattJ

which will include notifications, and updating the topic

  96. Kev

Which will stand for Council 5 times in 2011, doing away with the need for the human factor.

  97. stpeter

    :)

  98. MattJ

    :)

  99. paul

The ability for arbitrary people to request reminders would be nice, MattJ :)

  100. MattJ

    +1 to everything

  101. MattJ

    paul, pubsub? :)

  102. Kev

Right, so I'll look forward to this bot, and I'll write an action in the minutes for next Council to discuss.

  103. Kev

    6) Thanks all.

  104. paul

    Sure! :)

  105. MattJ

    What happened to AOB? :P

  106. remko

    welcome

  107. Kev

So, I'd like to thank the current Council for all their hard work and turning up so diligently :)

  108. Kev

    7) Any other business.

  109. stpeter loves that ironic British sense of humour

  110. remko

i'ld like to apoligize to the council chair for not turning up very diligently

  111. Kev

remko: You are here at the moment...

  112. MattJ

I don't /really/ have any AOB, other than my apologies for not turning up last week, which iirc is the only time I have not done so :)

  113. stpeter

remko: don't worry, your lifetime pension payments are based on your salary on your final day of employment!

  114. MattJ

there wasn't anything I needed to vote on, was there? I did read the logs and it didn't seem that way

  115. stpeter

    nope

  116. MattJ

    Good :)

  117. Kev

MattJ: No, we elected to last call dialback, and to schedule a vote on threads for this meeting.

  118. MattJ

Yep, I'm going to give some feedback on dialback

  119. stpeter

now that the bis drafts are done I'm going to get busy on XEPs again -- just warning you all!

  120. Kev

So, I think we're all done, and we'll leave it to the next Council to decide when the next meeting is.

  121. MattJ

    stpeter, yay!

  122. MattJ

We've been missing our editor, really

  123. stpeter

the next Council will have lots to work on

  124. Kev

    Thanks, Council of 2009/2010!

  125. Kev bangs the gavel.

  126. remko

    yaaay

  127. MattJ

    Thanks chair!

  128. Kev

I'll send out some minutes tomorrow.

  129. stpeter

    thanks, Kev

  130. remko

    thanks kev

  131. stpeter

brb, and see you in the xsf@ room in little while...

  132. MattJ

    xsf@? or foundation@?

  133. MattJ

    xsf

  134. MattJ

    Changes changes :)
