  4. SamWhited is not here to take notes; sorry.

  5. Dave Cridland

Not yet. You're a whole 20 seconds early.

  6. Lance

    welp

  7. Dave Cridland

    There we go.

  8. Tobias

  12. Tobias

    +1

  13. Dave Cridland

    +1.

  14. Tobias

  19. SamWhited

Please do me a favor and file an issue on the xeps repo or something for the editors if we need to move carbons forward; thanks!

  20. Lance

    SamWhited: will do, thanks!

  21. Lance

    3) AOB?

  22. Dave Cridland

    Same time is good.

  23. Tobias

    none here

  24. Dave Cridland

There's some stuff about IoT floating about.

  25. Tobias

    what stuff?

  26. Dave Cridland

Someone's emailed Board about it, and Arc noted that there's a few parallel (and incompatible) IoT suites using XMPP.

  27. SamWhited thinks someone should add an IoT Compliance Suite to XEP-0375

  28. Dave Cridland

It'd be interesting to try and spark a discussion about IoT on standards - but I have to admit the subject doesn't interest me a huge amount, so if anyone else wants to try to lead a discussion that'd be awesome.

  29. MattJ

    Late +1 for Carbons

  30. Lance

    Thanks MattJ

  31. Lance

Dave Cridland: what would that conversation be about, exactly?

  32. Dave Cridland

The other thing is I've noticed a couple of Internet Drafts knocking about using XMPP; I'm beginning to wonder about talking with the IETF/IESG about a formal liasion process to try an give these a reasonable amount of exposure and review.

  33. Dave Cridland

    Lance, "IoT. Great, innit?"

  34. MattJ

Dave Cridland, how many of the incompatible suites are standardized by the XSF?

  35. Dave Cridland

Lance, Mostly trying to find out whether people like those specs, and if not, what are they using.

  36. Dave Cridland

MattJ, None. The IoT XEPs aren't standards yet. :-)

  37. Tobias

Dave Cridland, because these internet drafts people won't come to the XSF, so we need to come to them?

  38. Dave Cridland

    Tobias, I don't know they're aware, mostly.

  39. Dave Cridland

Tobias, I might just ask Alexey to nudge them our way.

  40. Tobias

    ah.ok

  41. Lance

    Anything actionable for council then?

  42. Tobias

    doesn't look like it

  43. Dave Cridland

Lance, Probably not, as long as people don't object to me looking at the IETF thing?

  44. Lance

Please do, that would be helpful

  45. Lance bangs gavel

  46. Lance

    thanks all

  47. Tobias

    thank you

  48. Lance

and pending peter's +1, congrats to all for a new draft xep

  49. MattJ

    Yay

  50. psa

hey sorry, I'm at a conference manning a booth and it all started a bit earlier than expected this morning

  51. psa

it would be nice if http://xmpp.org/about/xmpp-standards-foundation#council had links to the mailing list archives and room logs - will generate a pull request

  52. psa reads http://logs.xmpp.org/council/2016-06-15/

  53. psa

I will review the Carbons XEP and post on list

  54. psa

re IoT, I am working in that area now (not using XMPP, though!) so I can provide some input

  55. psa

Dave Cridland: regarding the XMPP-related work in the IETF, I'd be happy tp reach out to the relevant ADs

  56. psa

Dave Cridland: in general, the IETF prefers not to set up a formal liaison relationship unless things are broken; perhaps they're broken right now, but I think not irreparably

  57. Dave Cridland

psa, I think it's just L3VPN (who have some reviews now anyway, so moot point) and MILE, but it's worth reminding the IESG that reviews are available and will be enthusiastically given.

  58. psa

    Dave Cridland: totally agree
