  2. ralphm

Tobias: So much for single set of protocol

  3. ralphm

    Maybe reality kicking in

  4. Tobias

right..going with Olm would give us a single protocol

  5. ralphm

I meant this part: “Signal Protocol includes multiparty, multidevice, media, and authentication features built on top of the core elements. These features are more likely to change over time, and to differ between deployments.”

  6. Tobias

    ah..that's what you meant

  7. Tobias

also, i don't know if documentation equals freedom to implement and use it free of charge, maybe they have patents or whatnot

  8. Tobias

then again IETF's Opus does also have patent related complications https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12622325

  9. SamWhited

Tobias: It specifically says that it's to make it easier for other people to reuse, and the original description of the crypto was specifically public-domained, so presumably they think it will be okay to reuse at least?

  10. fippo

tobias: I am missing matt jordans take on that in HN? http://lists.digium.com/pipermail/asterisk-dev/2013-May/060419.html

  11. Tobias

fippo, wonder if looks better in non-US, regarding patents

  12. Tobias

    SamWhited, yeah...they say so…

  13. Tobias

    fippo

  14. Tobias

fippo, i've added a link to that on that HN discussion, maybe someone will find it useful

  15. fippo

    thanks
