XMPP Council - 2017-03-02

  1. moparisthebest

so does XEP-0368 advance to draft now? that may be an editor question so I'll highlight SamWhited :)

  2. SamWhited goes to tally the votes

  3. SamWhited

I don't see a vote from Link Mauve, but I think it's been more than two weeks, so I'm pretty sure that's a "yes"

  4. SamWhited

But I'll double check before publishing

  5. SamWhited

    > Additional voting policies, such as voting periods and defaults if a member does not vote, may be set by the XMPP Council

  6. SamWhited

No idea where the two week number came from; maybe that's set somewhere other than XEP-0001. Not sure if I made it up or not.

  7. Zash

Hm, could it be that items in the inbox are to be voted on within 2 weeks?

  8. SamWhited

    maybe that was it

  9. Zash

    > If no member of the XMPP Council objects to publication of the proposal within fourteen (14) days or at the next meeting of the Council, the XMPP Extensions Editor shall accept it as a XEP.

  10. Zash

and > The Last Call shall expire not less than fourteen (14) days after the date of issue.

  11. SamWhited

yah, that's probably what I was thinking

  12. SamWhited

I guess we need to define a policy about moving to draft

  13. SamWhited

Sorry moparisthebest, it's currently blocking on Link Mauve, you should pester him :)

  14. Zash

    > Once the consensus of the Standards SIG has been incorporated into the XEP and all issues of substance raised during the Last Call have been addressed by the XEP author, the XMPP Extensions Editor shall formally propose a specific revision of the XEP to the XMPP Council for its vote. If necessary, the XMPP Extensions Editor may, at his discretion and in consultation with the XMPP Council, extend the Last Call or issue a new Last Call if the XEP requires further discussion.

  15. moparisthebest

    I hate pestering people lol

  16. moparisthebest

    Link Mauve, vote :)

  17. SamWhited

oh hey… ummm… I propose the current one that we've already voted on mostly.

  18. Zash

Hm, or does this continue under 8. Approval Process

  19. moparisthebest

hey maybe I could try another tactic, what mathmatical operation should I do to 2 to get 3?

  20. moparisthebest

    (please say +1)

  21. moparisthebest

    :P

  22. Zash

    PUSHINTEGER 1 ADD RETURN

  23. moparisthebest

    foiled again

  24. Zash

Reading on this e-ink thing is so much nicer than the screen

  25. Zash

    > A vote of the XMPP Council applies only to the specific revision of the XEP that has been presented to it. Further revisions may need to be re-submitted for approval.

  26. SamWhited

    oops

  27. moparisthebest

not sure I've ever seen that happen

  28. moparisthebest

368 at least hasn't changed since the vote

  29. Kev

    > No idea where the two week number came from; maybe that's set somewhere other than XEP-0001. Not sure if I made it up or not. It was set by Council years ago, and no Council has since changed it.

  30. SamWhited

Oh cool, thanks Kev. In that case, yes, moparisthebest, I'm pretty sure it moves to draft.

  31. moparisthebest

ah ok thanks, so do you get to do the honors SamWhited ? :P

  32. SamWhited

Not right this moment, but I can probably do it in a few hours

  33. SamWhited

unless someone else gets to it first

  34. moparisthebest

no rush, I just didn't really want it falling out of LC

  35. Dave Cridland

Kev, Comes from XEP-0001 for Publication: "If no member of the XMPP Council objects to publication of the proposal within fourteen (14) days or at the next meeting of the Council" although we don't *really* do that, quite.

  36. Kev

    That's not quite it.

  37. Kev

It was when we decided that the period of a Council meeting for the purposes of voting was 14 days :)

  38. Dave Cridland

Your memory is likely better than mine.
