Tobias
somebody happen to have the logs from last week's meeting for me?
- Zash scrolls up a bit
- Zash ^C^Vs to Tobias in another room with automagic pastebinning enabled
-
Tobias
daniel, you XEP-0060 mail you mentioned last council meeting, can't find it on the standards ML. Did it go there or to another ML?
-
Tobias
seems it's about time
-
daniel
Tobias: it's resurrecting an old thread called xep-0223 clarification
-
daniel
I'm here
-
Tobias
1) Roll call
-
SamWhited
Here
-
Dave Cridland
Here.
-
Tobias
Link Mauve, ping
-
Link Mauve
Hi, my meeting just finished.
-
Tobias
great
-
Tobias
everybody's there
-
Tobias
2) Minute Taker
-
Dave Cridland
I can.
-
Tobias
great
-
Tobias
3) SHA-1 migration plan
-
Link Mauve
No news.
-
Tobias
There's still no progress report and I'm about to remove that card from Trello as it seems largely silly to bring it up each week.
-
Tobias
4) XSF Editor Infrastructure update
-
Tobias
According to Kev, the editor should now be able to do their duties.
-
SamWhited
I don't think this is true
-
Tobias
However SamWhited said he still can't send mails, so for announcing new protoxeps for example, right?
-
Tobias
at least i don't find a mail for "Compare-And-Publish PubSub Items" in my gmail
-
SamWhited
Email is still broken, the build takes upwards of an hour (which is technically not a blocker, but by the time it's done you've wandered off and forgotten what you were doing), and you have to ping someone on the iteam to actually publish the site. Since people from the iteam are busy and/or not around all the time, this means it's still not really practical to begin publishing things again
-
Tobias
Right. Maybe someone can bring that up in the upcoming board meeting. I'm traveling when that happens.
-
Tobias
Can take a look over the weekend if I can fix some of the currently broken iteam'ish things...
-
Tobias
our council MUC logs are also broken
-
Tobias
5) Date of next
-
Tobias
Next week, same day, same time of day?
-
SamWhited
WFM
-
daniel
Wfm
-
Tobias
wfm
-
Link Mauve
WFM.
-
Link Mauve
Oh.
-
Dave Cridland
WFM2
-
Tobias
Great
-
Link Mauve
Maybe not WFM, let me check.
-
Link Mauve
No, I’ll be on a train departing ten minutes earlier, and we still don’t have wifi on national trains…
-
Tobias
right...but you probably can vote or discuss via mail and minutes, right?
-
Dave Cridland
I thought you were in the UK? WiFi's often terrible, but usually there - and the G's are usually OK for XMPP.
-
Link Mauve
Right.
-
Tobias
6) AOB
-
Link Mauve
Dave Cridland, not from Great Northern to London. :(
-
Dave Cridland
An OAB item here.
-
Dave Cridland
AOB, even.
-
Tobias
Dave Cridland, yeah?
-
Dave Cridland
I still see no response form the OMEMO XEP author. That spec is due to be deferred in a couple of weeks, if I recall correctly.
-
Dave Cridland
I still see no response from the OMEMO XEP author. That spec is due to be deferred in a couple of weeks, if I recall correctly.
-
Tobias
Dave Cridland, it's hardly to be deferred if the XSF Editor can not do his editing tasks :)
-
Tobias
Dave Cridland, SamWhited said he's currently blocked by the infrastructure and plans to ping Andy if that's working again, right?
-
Dave Cridland
Tobias, Well, in practise, no. But it'd be nice if it were ready to be updated once the infrastructure is back running.
-
SamWhited
I've lost track, what OMEMO discussion are we talking about?
-
Tobias
the PR
-
Dave Cridland
SamWhited, Remko's discussions on list, and the PR.
-
SamWhited
Weren't there several? /me goes to look again
-
SamWhited
ah right, that one, yup, gotcha
-
Tobias
alright
-
Tobias
any further AOB?
-
Dave Cridland
Well... Is the Council going to do anything about the OMEMO discussions?
-
Dave Cridland
I mean, the author is unresponsive. At what point to we pick a new one?
-
SamWhited
I don't think the author has been pinged, so I'm not sure if he's unresponsive or not
-
Tobias
right
-
Dave Cridland
What?
-
Dave Cridland
That makes no sense. He's surely on the mailing lists, right?
-
Tobias
and if he hasn't been officially pinged i think we can't interpret him not replying on standards ML or PR as unrepsonsive
-
SamWhited
I don't read about half of what comes through the mailing list
-
Tobias
Dave Cridland, not everybody reads every mail
-
Dave Cridland
Sure, but he should be seeing "OMEMO" in the subject line and responding, surely?
-
SamWhited
I don't know if he's even on the ML, I assume he is, but I don't think it's fair to make that a requirement.
-
Dave Cridland
In any case, however we're apparently meant to ping people, can someone ping him, then, please?
-
Dave Cridland
SamWhited, I think it's very fair to make that a requirement.
-
SamWhited
I would prefer to wait until I actually have the ability to act on any decisions that are made before sending the "An update has been received to your XEP" email
-
Tobias
right
-
Tobias
which should be really soon now
-
Dave Cridland
No, I disagree.
-
Dave Cridland
It's utterly unfair to not even respond to the discussion just because we might not be able to immediately action any decisions.
-
SamWhited
I mean, he's online, I can just ping him and ask if he'd respond on list right now, or daniel can I'm sure
-
Tobias
alright...will you do so?
-
SamWhited
Done
-
Tobias
ta
-
Tobias
any further AOB?
-
Tobias
doesn't look like it
- Tobias bangs the gavel
-
Tobias
thanks everybody
-
Tobias
g2g
-
Dave Cridland
Yeah. What *is* "Officially Pinged"?
-
Dave Cridland
I see no mention of officially pinging someone anywhere in our documents.
-
SamWhited
Yah, I don't know; I don't know that it matters either. I just meant sending out the email that the editor guides say authors will get when a PR is submitted
-
Dave Cridland
Also, from XEP-0001, §6: " In order to fully participate in discussion of the proposal, the XEP author should be subscribed to the Standards list, which is the primary venue for discussion of XMPP Extension Protocols."
