daniel
Hi
-
Tobias
IIRC Dave Cridland is excused
-
Tobias
2) Minute taker
-
SamWhited
(I am only half-here, FYI)
-
Link Mauve
I can do it.
-
Tobias
Link Mauve, thanks
-
Tobias
SamWhited, what's the state of getting a inbox mail about Compare-And-Publish PubSub Items?
-
SamWhited
I haven't been merging anything again, I need to get back into the habbit, but that would require figuring out how docker publishing works and writing it down so I don't forget again, so I'ev been lazy. Apologies.
-
Tobias
alright..no worries
-
Tobias
3) OMEMO / ODR
-
Tobias
I've started a summary of the recent discussions around OMEMO and the possible solutions on the table, will hopefully get done with that today or tomorrow and send it to standards list
-
Tobias
4) XEP-0280 changes ( https://github.com/xsf/xeps/pull/434 )
-
Kev
I note that on that topic (OMEMO), I *think* there's a proposal on the table that (while a heavy compromise for everyone) has at least Remko, daniel and me thinking it's manageable. I'm somewhat keen that we don't move backwards now :)
-
Tobias
Kev started a discussion 6 days ago on standards
-
Tobias
Kev, i know and I'll emphasise that in the summary
-
Kev
:)
-
Link Mauve
Kev, the document the existing, improve what can be improved there, and publish another version which is what we suggest should be implemented in the future?

Kev, document the existing, improve what can be improved there, and publish another version which is what we suggest should be implemented in the future?
-
Tobias
(if that is the one where current numbered XEP will be moving/ongoing with development, and a new historical XEP will document the current deployed code), haven't gone through all mails in my inbox yet
-
Kev
Within the same XEP. Yes. (assuming you're talking about OMEMO still)
-
Link Mauve
Tobias, I’d really welcome a summary, I haven’t been able to read the thread yet.
-
Kev
Tobias: No, it's that no Historical is published.
-
Link Mauve
(Yes.)
-
Tobias
Kev, alright..then that's probably covered in the mails i haven't read yet
-
SamWhited
I got lost on that thread a long time ago; looking forward to the summary.
-
Tobias
5) SHA-1 migration plan
-
Tobias
I think Dave put something along that on his todo, nothing new to report here
-
Link Mauve
Nothing new here either, but I fully agree with the conclusion from the minutes.
-
Tobias
there's an agenda to vote on the OMEMO XEP update but i imagine at least some on the council are waiting on my summary so i suggest we vote on that next week
-
daniel
Ack
-
SamWhited
Yah, I'd like to wait for a summary; I'll also ping Andy to comment again, I think he wants to stay out of it, but I'd like to get his opinion on some of the new stuff if he can be convinced.
-
Tobias
there is also voting on obsoleting XEP-0146: Remote Controlling Clients on the agenda, but according to https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0001.html#approval-info the next step is Deprecated, for an Active Informational XEP
-
Tobias
so, do we want to vote on deprecating it?
-
SamWhited
> A XEP of any type is changed from Deprecated to Obsolete if the XMPP Council has determined that the protocol defined therein should no longer be implemented or deployed.
-
SamWhited
Seems like we should go straight to obsolete to me; we want to say "don't deploy this, there are security issues"
-
Tobias
SamWhited, so you suggest we directly vote on obsoleting it
-
Tobias
alright
-
SamWhited
That would be my suggestion
-
Kev
I don't see a process problem with this.
-
Tobias
6) Vote on obsoleting XEP-0146: Remote Controlling Clients
-
Kev
There's no minimum period for deprecated (that I can remember), so you're eventually just voting to deprecated and then immediately voting to obsolete.
-
Kev
s/eventually/essentially/
- Tobias will vote on list
-
SamWhited
+1 to obsolete
-
Link Mauve
+1 to obsolete, which was my original intent last year.
-
daniel
+1 obsolete
-
Link Mauve
Thanks for bringing that up daniel. :)
-
Tobias
7) Date of next
-
Tobias
usual time, next Wednesday?
-
SamWhited
WFM
- Tobias too
-
daniel
Me too
-
Link Mauve
WFM.
-
Tobias
great
-
Tobias
8) AOB
-
daniel
Me
-
Tobias
sure, what's it?
-
daniel
Council will eventually have to vote on the publish options thing I keep pushing on the list
-
daniel
So unless you all plan to vote 0 you might want to get involved
-
Tobias
right
-
daniel
That would spare me from having to rewrite the PR again and again
-
daniel
That's it
-
Tobias
okido
-
Tobias
further AOB
-
Tobias
?
-
SamWhited
Yah, sorry, I keep meaning to comment on that; I really need to get a better handle on pubsub first.
-
Tobias
seems there's no further AOB
- Tobias bangs the gavel
-
Tobias
thanks everybody
-
Link Mauve
Thank you. :)
-
Tobias
seems it'll be an evening full of mailbox reading
