XMPP Council - 2019-11-05

  1. Ge0rG

everybody: I plan to provide an update to CS-2020 until the meeting tomorrow, so I'd like to request two votes: a) shall XEP-0392 Consistent Color Generation be demoted from "Advanced IM Client" into "Future Development"? b) Can we advance XEP-0423 to Draft, given the changes that I promise to have pushed some time tomorrow.

  2. pep.

    Is the LC over already?

  3. Zash

    LC is neverending

  4. pep.

    Right, judging from past experiences

  5. Ge0rG

Yes, LC ended on Nov 1st

  6. Ge0rG

I mean, the formal minimal length of the LC ended

  7. Ge0rG

Maybe Nov 2nd. You never quite know.

  8. pep.

    "end of business", amirite

  9. pep.

    "end of business day", amirite

  10. Ge0rG

yes. this is also what I'm going to do now. end of business.

  11. pep.

    What does that even mean

  12. Kev

I think the minimum length of LC on 423 ends tomorrow, no?

  13. Kev

LC was issued on a Wednesday, and has a two-week minimum.

  14. jonas’

it ends right before the council meeting indeed

  15. Kev

Well, the LC could have ended just before Council, but instead ends sometime after it.

  16. Kev

Because the LC was issued for CoB instead of exactly 14 days :)

  17. Ge0rG

    Oh, I'm very sorry.

  18. Kev

So I think we'll just have to vote on it advancing when LC expires as long as no feedback is received between the end of the meeting and the end of the LC. I don't see a problem with that.

  19. Ge0rG

I had looked at `cal 2019` but the month above November isn't October, and the 23rd there happened to be a Friday, so I estimated that the LC ended last week

  20. Kev

So I think we'll just have to vote (in the meeting) on it advancing when LC expires as long as no feedback is received between the end of the meeting and the end of the LC. I don't see a problem with that.

  21. Ge0rG

given that, we could still have the vote happen on the 13th, but with a one-week period instead of two weeks (I suppose the Chair can decide that, right?)

  22. Ge0rG

Otherwise, the Council election on 21st will render everything moot, and it will be all like Groundhog Day again, but without Bill Murray.

  23. Kev

Why not go with my suggestion?

  24. Ge0rG

Kev: I'm all in favor of it
