    > I could definitely use a reading list dwd has recommended XEPs 1 and 53. Any others to pile on?

  2. moparisthebest

    Nothing immediately comes to mind

  3. Ge0rG

dan.caseley: are you looking for council process or for technical aspects? For the latter, you could have a look at the compliance suites..

  4. Ge0rG

  5. dan.caseley

I'm currently in a state of "wanting to be useful" but with wild imposter syndrome, so looking for any modicum of knowledge to tamp that down a bit. Council process and history feels like a good place to be starting. For example, I found the inbox, and couldn't understand if there's a to-do list aspect to that - how does stuff ever disappear from there? Or does it not?

  6. jonas’

dan.caseley, hi and welcome and congrats I guess?!

  7. jonas’

dan.caseley, it helps to have read https://xmpp.org/extensions/xep-0001.html for a start

  8. jonas’

how inbox is managed is an editor topic, not directly a council topic. as a council member, you should subscribe to the standards mailing list

  9. jonas’

all todo items from the editor should be announced there (or here), in form of XEP mail announcements

  10. dan.caseley

    Thanks!

  11. jonas’

and the council chair will typically send an agenda ahead of time to the standards mailing list

  12. jonas’

(or at least to the council mailing list to which you'll be subscribed automatically I think)

  13. jonas’

(or at least to the council mailing list to which you'll be subscribed "automatically" I think)

  14. jonas’

("automatically" = someone will do it for you based on your new affiliation)

  15. moparisthebest

    > how inbox is managed is an editor topic, not directly a council topic. as a council member, you should subscribe to the standards mailing list But you can't, I think I saw someone say stpeter can add people?

  16. jonas’

    moparisthebest, oh, still broken? :|

  17. moparisthebest

    Yep https://mail.jabber.org/mailman/listinfo/standards

  18. dan.caseley

Try an email to standards-subscribe ?

  19. moparisthebest

    I guess it can't hurt (:

  20. singpolyma

    Anything via email should work

  21. singpolyma

    "only" web is down

  22. jonas’

    dan.caseley, that should work indeed

  23. singpolyma

Anyone from iteam should also be able to subscribe anyone using cli

  24. singpolyma

(or, anyone from iteam who has been given access to the server)

  25. dan.caseley

    That looks promising.

  26. singpolyma

Most things will come down to a PR with a needs council label, yeah?

  27. jonas’

iff the editor workflow still uses these labels, yes. however protoxeps, last calls, and the likes don't have that and are announced via the mailing list.

  28. jonas’

    so it's both really

  29. jonas’

(but also, composing the agenda is a chair task, not a task of the average council member :))

  30. Kev

I have been generally letting Council know in this room when things need a Council vote. I can use other mechanisms (mail to council@ or whatever) if the new Council would rather. Just so long as it's not something onerous :)
