OK, about spaces, IANAL, but I'm not sure that using a trademark known for a long conflict about its name in XEP examples is a good idea.

Technically, I find that it's reinventing pubsub on top of disco items, while still using pubsub for subscriptions, and using ad-hoc for creation/deletion when pubsub already does that. I'm known to be pubsub advocate, but I really think it would be a better fit here.

Anyway that's not a reason to block it.

The feature is really much needed, and that can evolve later. So I'm +1 if reference to existing trademark are removed (of if rest of council thinks it's fine like that).

I think we need a generic mechanism for knowing about updates to disco#items anyway, not just for this. Basing it on either of pubsub or caps seems like the approach to try

it's not only update, pubsub handle also permissions, subscribers list, etc.

Fwiw I personally welcome fresh takes on example themes. I don't think copyright is much of an issue. Making up tlds is though
