On list. I've read it, and close to +1, but want to re-read the key exchange.

  23. goffi

I have some change to do if validated anyway

  24. larma

(Short comment: I'm a bit surprised we can't just use the jid we had before when binding jid to xid is such a major part)

  25. goffi

I'm not sure why we want to do that with Jingle

  29. Cynthia

I have a question about XID

  31. goffi

I'll be on-linst, but right now it seems like a bazooka for something we can just throw to messages or PEP

  32. daniel

Cynthia, you can use the standards mailing list (or the xsf muc)

  33. larma

I'm leaning towards -1, but I will give them time to convince me of not doing so on list

  34. Cynthia

    Alright

  35. dan.caseley

I've not read this one at all yet, sorry

    > (Short comment: I'm a bit surprised we can't just use the jid we had before when binding jid to xid is such a major part) Not sure to understand, you say that the server mapping is unnecessary?

  51. larma

goffi: the question was basically what we need it for, the examples you provided it feels to me that jid could also work there? Because jid and xid are bound anyways

  52. goffi

There are a couple of use cases explained in the XEP, first one is serverless. But also server change, tying identities together, this kind of things.

  53. goffi

If I'm on server A which becomes down without warning, I can't move and keep my identity with DNS-based JID, with XID I can.

  54. goffi

Actually XEP-0080 already specifies a PEP node to track location.

  55. singpolyma

hi sorry I was apparently desynced from this muc
