hey o/ anyone has any suggestions for distributed indentifiers besides DIDs? I am looking seriously again into that part of my application and would like something standardized. So in that sense nostr like stuff which just put a "key" or whatever is out. by identifiers i mean jid's but without a domain to anchor them too. I am basically looking for a way to generate a jid that is standard (did, whatever else) that can be used across applications (in a federation of heterogenous clients/servers/whatever) and they can be discovered by a party that want to communicate with said identifier. reading about DIDs they basically work by linking to a DID document that can list different uris as resources so maybe that would be desirable too

i have been thinking that maybe certificates could be used although they seem less flexible than DIDs

DIDs are where pretty much all the standards effort has been poured in recent years

i dont want to go down the nostr route because its not standardized mainly. plus i could use openpgp/ox keys but that ties me to an implementation or tool so meh
