Is there anything that prevents a spec from adding extra attributes to IQs? I'm not aware of anything that does this, and it seems like a bad idea, but is it actually illegal per RFC 6120 or anything? I couldn't find anything, but I have a vague recollection that stanzas were strict about what attributes they could have

If it's properly negotiated so that both parties know that both understand it then you can do anything.

Seems like a weird non-xmpp-ish thing to mess with top level stanza attributes tho

Yah, I was debating whether when I convert a start token to a nicer to use IQ type or similar if I needed to keep the attributes list around. I can't imagine anything would add attributes other than the common ones, but I couldn't find anything that forbade it either
