Hello everybody, I do not know if I am in the right place to ask about it, so I am sorry if this is the case. I wanted to ask few questions about the new version of tails that came out today. Tails 4.4. I followed every step to try to fix it but nothing seems to work. After the computer initiates into the USB and loads the screen to selec the language it frozes. I can select langage and everything but once i select to start tails it frozes. Does someone know why this could be happening? Thank you.

  3. Guus

I had to google Tails. 🙂

  4. Guus

I don't think this is the proper place for that question, to be honest. This chat is very specific to XMPP-based development.

  5. Guus

    What made you come here?

  6. liomess10

server: conference.riseup.net room: tails use TLS/SSL to connect!

  8. Guus

Oh, that does smell like XMPP

  9. liomess10

From the Tails website they send you there to connect about the rpoblems

  10. liomess10

Do you know how can I enter that conference?

  11. Guus

You can use an XMPP client to join that room

  12. Guus

    it's address is tails@conference.riseup.net

  13. Guus

from what I see, Tails ships with Pidgin, which has some (but very basic, almost broken) XMPP support - so you might want to try that.

  14. Guus

after you add your account to Pidgin, you can open a dialog that allows you to join a chat room. It will look a bit like this:

Thank you so much! I will try that right now. I appreciate your help

  17. Guus

    no problem

I get the impression that we (a) need an onboarding room, (b) list it prominently e.g. on search.jabber.network and (c) have it joinable via browser.

  19. Zash

Something like the old jabber@ room?

  20. Zash

IIRC that was more targeted at users and this kind of thing

  21. Guus

we also might want to reach out to the dev team of Tails and make 'm include a proper client.

  22. Zash

    Ah, that was from https://tails.boum.org/getting_started/index.en.html

  23. lovetox

Zash they considered Gajim for a time

  24. lovetox

but as this is a security centered OS

  25. lovetox

    they have special requirements
