hm, any server implementations which require initial presence to route IQs?

  2. MattJ

    Hopefully not?

  3. MattJ

Some legacy servers may require the session iq before you can route iqs

  4. jonas’

RFC 6120 §10.5.4 > If the JID contained in the 'to' attribute is of the form <localpart@domainpart/resourcepart>, the user exists, and there is a connected resource that exactly matches the full JID, the server MUST deliver the stanza to that connected resource.

  5. jonas’

what’s the definition of "connected resource"?

  6. jonas’

I don’t suppose that includes having sent initial presence :)

  7. flow

After a connected resource sends initial presence (see Section 4.2), it is referred to as an "available resource".

  8. flow

    from rfc6121 § 2.2

  11. jonas’

    thanks

  12. flow

uh, "connected resource" is even defined in rfc6120 § 7.1

  13. jonas’

    https://issues.igniterealtime.org/browse/OF-2018 thanks, flow :)

  14. flow

hmm the term "available resource" could be misleading people to believe that a connected resource is not "available"

  15. flow

I memorized it always as "available presence"
