    That makes sense. In general terms XEPs don't need to be downloaded manually, correct? XEPs aren't branches to be forked (that's where I was getting confused) but they just specify features that most frameworks already implement. Would that be more or less accurate ?

    XEPs are "features" or "additions to the protocol" generally yes, at least the ones that are implemented by code

    it'd be up to the particular library how you enable support for them though

    XEPs just describe what protocol a library needs to send, yes. They're just documents to help people implementing things.

    (There's a couple of XEPs that do other things, but it's a useful generalisation nevertheless)

    the really nice thing is that once it's implemented, it works out of the box for everything: blog, forums, tickets, events, etc.
