Moderated is only for public rooms at the moment right? With MUC. Since in private room everyone is a member anyway so all will get voice?

  2. singpolyma

I realize an implemetation can do whatever, but I'm thinking about what users have access to right now

    > With MUC. Since in private room everyone is a member anyway so all will get voice? *By default*. Voice can be changed independently.

  4. singpolyma

Yes, but who gets voice by default is sort of the point of setting the moderation checkbox

  5. ☭Mike Yellow

This option is specially for Ejabberd server. Ejabberd has such a room configuration: “Default users as participants”. It effects every occupant who has not been changed voice manually.

  6. ☭Mike Yellow

If their voice (or affiliation) was changed manually, then this option nolonger effect on them.

  7. ☭Mike Yellow

If the mode is not moderate, then it does not take any effect.

  8. ☭Mike Yellow

Moderate mode could and should always be on because we do not have tools or many advanced users to play voices, is not it?

  9. singpolyma

I'm not sure I understand this statement

  10. ☭Mike Yellow

Look. Many users use Conversations, but it can not change voice indenpendently, it can only do it by change affiliation with moderate mode.

  11. ☭Mike Yellow

If I want to revoke voice of someone, I set the mode to moderate and make them No-affiliation, then their voice is revoked.

  12. ☭Mike Yellow

If they is a No-affiliation with voice, then set them member and set back to No-affiliation.

  13. ☭Mike Yellow

If the moderate mode is off, then I can only ban them without letting them listen-only.

  14. singpolyma

Changing voice without changing affiliation isn't super useful anyway because it doesn't persist

  15. ☭Mike Yellow

singpolyma, Sorry I forgot to mention. Ejabberd keep the role permanently for anyone.

  16. ☭Mike Yellow

singpolyma, Sorry I forgot to mention. Ejabberd keeps the role permanently for anyone. The next time joining, the role remains.

  17. ☭Mike Yellow

Unless they have not been changed voice manually.

  18. ☭Mike Yellow

Unless their roles have not been changed manually.

  19. ☭Mike Yellow

Yes. Ejabberd and Prosody are super different in both user server and MUC server.

  20. ☭Mike Yellow

You see many occupants are granted voice manually but they are still No-affiliations, and their voices remain when the next time joining, in famous moderated rooms. Do not you?

  21. singpolyma

I have never seen that, but interesting to hear some have that

  22. ☭Mike Yellow

Join official Conversations room and check the occupant list.
