  1. lovetox

how should a client react GUI wise to multiple message errors

  2. lovetox

is this even allowed? should i expect to get multiple message errors?

  3. lovetox

should i ignore eveything after the first? Overwrite? display all of them?

  4. singpolyma

it's a bit unexpected. are they coming from different sources?

  5. lovetox

maybe, this is a theoretical question because im again modelling my database

  6. lovetox

does this need to be a one-to-many or a one-to-one relation

  7. singpolyma

Ah, ok. I'm not sure what the spec says but multiple error replies would surprise me

  8. lovetox

yeah i had until also the assumption, i will only receive one

  9. Zash

https://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#stanzas-error says "an <error/>" a number of times and I wouldn't have assumed that multiple <error/> was intended to be a thing from that. Schemas just says minOccurs='0', no upper limit, however normative that is..

  10. lovetox

no i didnt mean multiple error elements

  11. lovetox

    i meant multiple error messages

  12. lovetox

but usually only one server/component/receiver rejects the message

  13. lovetox

and its probably a bug when it sends it multiple times

  14. Zash

hm, unless you've got a message to a bare jid that's forked to multiple resources that could each trigger an error

  15. Zash

smacks timeouts seem the most common

  16. lovetox

was not the whole thing a bug :D

  17. lovetox

server should not reject my message with an error ..

  18. lovetox

but ok so there are occurences of that, but i guess i dont lose information if i only display the first

  19. moparisthebest

Is only the first or only the last better :)

  20. debacle

Commercial break: We probably will have an XMPP sprint in Berlin. So far, two dates are under evaluation: https://framadate.org/vOBa7kvjnIRMp8Qd We get the place (near central station) for free, but there is no further sponsoring, so far. If you are interested, join xmpp:sprints@joinjabber.org?join

debacle, hmm berlin trip, sounds like a nice idea
