Some window managers even attempted to provide tabs, like fluxbox, I think on beos tabs were a thing. But then it turned out that it's easier to implement tabs inside your software instead of waiting for a corpo like microsoft to implement them. So each piece of software reimplements them itself.

I recall listening to the Kevin Trudeau Show, when Kevin has talked about an experience with an officer which was invited to dine with his family. He has said, that during the meal, he realized that she was "stoned" (i.e. under the nifluence of drugs). He concluded that people should be hapy by that misfortunate state of affairs, that there are more "junkies", because it increases the employment opportunities of those who are not "stoners".

Continuing my message... Hence, we should be happy for that trend, because we have the more opportunities to stand out! Thanks to people of XMPP, including you, edhelas, Zash and other friends here, I have managed to create a content management system (Rivista XJP) and even a collaborative annotation management system (Blasta) with XMPP. I did not even imagine that I ever would. https://blasta.woodpeckersnest.eu
