hello pls how do i use non vbc i purchase i m a new bie here

  2. lovetox

does a client support sending omemo message without a second device?

  3. lovetox

so you would not have any device to encrypt to

  4. moparisthebest

you can always encrypt to yourself right?

  5. moparisthebest

I send myself notes over XMPP constantly

  6. lovetox

in Gajim only if you have second device

  7. lovetox

then you dont encrypt to yourself, you encrypt to a different device

  8. lovetox

omemo does not care about JIDs

  9. lovetox

if there is no other device, then i simply could not omemo encrypt the aes key

  10. lovetox

meaning the message has no receipient devices

  11. lovetox

the payload is AES encrypted, but the key is simply missing from the message

  12. moparisthebest

my personal OMEMO keys are a veritable graveyard of devices do I don't personally need to worry about that

  13. moparisthebest

But why shouldn't gajim simply encrypt to this device when sending to this device

  14. lovetox

because this would mean i have to build a session with myself, and this is a rather useless task

  15. lovetox

my approach to simply not encrypt to anyone has the same result

  16. lovetox

or rather not include the encryption key, in the message

  17. lovetox

its actually useless to even send it to the server

  18. lovetox

maybe i should just include it into the database and not even send it

  19. lovetox

at this point Gajim becomes a notepad :D

  20. lovetox

yeah i remember now that was my rational, if there is no other device, dont use a messenger, use a note app.

  21. lovetox

if you use omemo with no other device, you obviously dont want to sync messages with another device, and omemo on the server can not decrypted later so it makes not even sense to send it to the server
