    are there any known issues with samsung phones and stream management ? i have two clients (both samsung users) that are shown as online but as soon as they receive a message, ejabberd tries to resume the session, which usually fails after approx 7 minutes and then the contact is offline - the messages they receive during that process are never delivered

    pod: that's a complex issue. What client are those people using?

    pod: Samsung phones do have interesting battery saving features, but those should be worked around by Conversations' battery permission plus proper Push support.

    pod: are they using the most recent Conversations version? Are there any holes in the server support info list of Conversations?

    Ge0rG, yes, both are using the most recent conversations version (1 from fdroid the other from playstore) and the server does have all the modules enabled besides the non standard tls thingy

    pod: I think you should leverage that in xmpp:conversations@conference.siacs.eu?join then; Daniel and zinid and Holger there are the perfect team to resolve the issue

    Ge0rG, thanks i am already in those mucs but i thought this maybe this is something another xmpp server admin has solved before :)

    pod, it may help if you think about things the other way around - you wrote "ejabberd tries to resume the session"

    but it is the client that must initiate that

    What I'm guessing happens is, ejabberd thinks the connection is fine, but sending a message makes it discover the connection is actually broken (this is a... feature... of TCP)

    I'm planning to gather some stats on exactly how much of the time mobile clients are successfully connected to my server

    MattJ, exactly, that is what i think happens - that is why i consider that samsung fw is the reason for it
