XMPP Service Operators - 2020-09-14

  1. thndrbvr

    Makes sense

  2. tom

    Never heard of Siskin

  3. tom

But jingle calls work on it?

  4. tom

ยป <thndrbvr> Oh, maybe I'm misreading. Jitsi doesn't want to provide support to Dino? One of my friends recently decided to close down his Jitsi instance, since the native XMPP just wasn't working and he didn't use firefox or chrome. And Jitsi blocks you if you don't run a bigtech duopoly browser

  5. Licaon_Kter

tom: blocks you if your browser doesn't have support, also when you host you can decide....what browser is so good but the duopoly hates it?

  6. MattJ

They don't "block" browsers, but they can obviously only support browsers that have the features and APIs their app needs

  7. Licaon_Kter

    Firefox ESR works fine

  8. Viktor Lindberg

Try changing your user agent, see what happens.

  9. Licaon_Kter

Viktor Lindberg: when you host.....it does not matter > One of my friends recently decided to close down *his* Jitsi instance

  10. Licaon_Kter

Viktor Lindberg: why doesn't that other browser change its user agent? It works magically? Or features support matters?

  11. MattJ

Viktor Lindberg: iirc that is the easiest way to test for some of the more obscure features (such as bandwidth optimisation)
