    Is FF VPN enabled? TMakarios

  3. thndrbvr

Or maybe DOH (DNS over HTTPS) and that DNS is suboptimal comparatively

  4. TMakarios

thndrbvr: I didn't know Firefox VPN was a thing, and apparently it's not available for Linux yet, so no.

  5. TMakarios

I haven't done anything fancy with my DNS settings, and it shouldn't matter once a connection has been established, should it?

  6. MattJ

TMakarios: agreed. Is it an up-to-date Firefox? (ESR doesn't count)

  7. TMakarios

I like to stick with Debian stable wherever possible, so yeah, it's ESR. I think it was a problem with a friend's Firefox on Windows, too, but that was a few months ago. Have things improved for using Jitsi Meet on Firefox in the last few months?

  8. Licaon_Kter

TMakarios: depends on the instance Host your own and turn simulcast and layersuspension and whatnot off so "older" browsers work fine (yes it won't be perfect for your interlocutors) Using meet.jit.si ? Cry me a river...use ~Google~Chrome Dev or whatever has the latest gizmos

  9. TMakarios

I am hosting my own, and I don't think I changed the settings for simulcast or layer suspension. But when last tested, it wasn't working for more than a few seconds for people connecting from outside my LAN anyway. Haven't bothered to figure out yet whether it's a configuration problem here, or some monster in the middle inserting TCP reset packets; eventually I persuaded my contact to download Pix-Art and use an XMPP account on my server for video calls instead.

Is it me or did FabiΓ‘n send his message in anotherbthread instead of starting a new one?

  11. Licaon_Kter

    Martin: umm?

  12. Martin

    Licaon_Kter: On the operators ML.

  13. Martin

https://mail.jabber.org/pipermail/operators/ But the site seems to have a problem. It's not opening here for >1min…

  14. Licaon_Kter

Martin: they announce new servers there? Why?

  15. Martin

    I don't know. πŸ˜ƒ

Hey tom did you know, you can get your "Matrix name" by taking the last letter of your XMPP nick and add _etthew_ then enter a time machine and travel back to 2014 😜 https://github.com/matrix-org/synapse/issues/1202

  17. mike

For the first time in forever, mail from operators ml got marked as spam. Thanks for linking it today or I'd never have noticed. 😁

  18. mike

My oldest public server is 10 years old today. Where does the time go?

  19. Martin

Mine? I've heard google likes tobput my mails to lists into the spam folder.

I think dkim sigs are broken by mailing lists changing the headers.

  22. mike

The original post and the reply both got spam foldered.

  23. mike

It's the first time I've ever seen anything from that list get marked that I know of. Although I could have happened and I totally missed it of course.

  24. Martin

You don't check your spam folder? 😲

  25. MattJ

mike, I saw your fediverse post, congratulations for sticking at it :)

  26. mike

MattJ: thanks. I'll keep the lights on as long as there are users, it's not like it's a massive amount of resources. 😁

  27. Martin

I hate to see lively channels I used to love die like that. :(

There should be a museum for the chat logs. Or maybe something that plays logs back in real time so you can experience them like an anthropologist studying chimps from a hidden shelter.
