  2. tom

What is the difference between spam and spim?

  3. tom

Some of the older XEPs refer to spim

  4. tom

I don't know if it's talking about the same thing

  5. mike

it's the same thing, just "spim" is "spam via IM" as a way of being more specific. it's not a term that I really see much any more.

  6. MattJ

Yeah, when spam started to become a thing on IM, the term was used... but rarely now

  7. MattJ

People don't even really use "IM" these days

  8. Martin

The term spim also sounds awkward to me. I prefer *SPAM, SPAM, LOVELY SPAM*

  9. Martin gets spam, spam, spam, eggs and spam for breakfast…

  10. Martin

Can any iteam member have a look if there are two mdosch.de email addresses in the operators ML? I get all emails to that list twice.

  11. jonas’

Martin, check the recipient headers of the emails on your end first, maybe?

  12. jonas’

there may be an X-Original-To header or something like that, depending on your MTA setup

  13. tom

    FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD

  14. tom

    We're anxious to try it

  15. Martin

jonas’: I did that several times, but either I'm blind or there is no indicator to which address it was delivered.

  16. Martin

    > X-Original-To: operators@xmpp.org > Delivered-To: operators@xmpp.org

  17. jonas’

hm, ok, my MTA adds X-Original-To locally, too

  18. jonas’

which indicates the RCPT TO address passed on the SMTP layer

  19. Martin

Maybe I have to tweak my postfix to do that as well.

  20. jonas’

Martin, if you use the `pipe` service to deliver, you should add the `O` flag to the list of flags

  21. jonas’

    (see man 8postfix pipe)

  22. Martin

Am on the road now to the company. Will have a look later, thanks.

    Hmmm

X-MS-Exchange-Organization-PRD: xmpp.org X-MS-Exchange-Organization-SenderIdResult: PermError Received-SPF: PermError (GRALEA.aria-net.local: domain of operators-bounces@xmpp.org used an invalid SPF mechanism) "v=spf1 a mx a:atlas.xmpp.net. a:atlas.jabber.org a:xmpp.org ~all" Are you telling me it's trampling on that trailing dot in the first "a"?

  26. Link Mauve

Martin, thanks, it should be fixed now. :)

  27. Link Mauve

And the cron should prevent that from ever happening again.

  28. Martin

Link Mauve: https://observe.jabber.network would also notify you before it'll expires. 😃

  29. Link Mauve

    Yup. :)
