What is the difference between spam and spim?
-
tom
Some of the older XEPs refer to spim
-
tom
I don't know if it's talking about the same thing
-
mike
it's the same thing, just "spim" is "spam via IM" as a way of being more specific. it's not a term that I really see much any more.
-
MattJ
Yeah, when spam started to become a thing on IM, the term was used... but rarely now
-
MattJ
People don't even really use "IM" these days
-
Martin
The term spim also sounds awkward to me. I prefer *SPAM, SPAM, LOVELY SPAM*
- Martin gets spam, spam, spam, eggs and spam for breakfast…

Can any iteam member have a look if there are two mdosch.de email addresses in the operators ML? I get all emails to that list twice.
-
jonas’
Martin, check the recipient headers of the emails on your end first, maybe?
-
jonas’
there may be an X-Original-To header or something like that, depending on your MTA setup

FOOD GLORIOUS FOOD
-
tom
We're anxious to try it
-
Martin
jonas’: I did that several times, but either I'm blind or there is no indicator to which address it was delivered.

Martin
> X-Original-To: operators@xmpp.org > Delivered-To: operators@xmpp.org
-
jonas’
hm, ok, my MTA adds X-Original-To locally, too
-
jonas’
which indicates the RCPT TO address passed on the SMTP layer
-
Martin
Maybe I have to tweak my postfix to do that as well.
-
jonas’
Martin, if you use the `pipe` service to deliver, you should add the `O` flag to the list of flags
-
jonas’
(see man 8postfix pipe)

Am on the road now to the company. Will have a look later, thanks.

Link Mauve
Martin, thanks, it should be fixed now. :)
-
Link Mauve
And the cron should prevent that from ever happening again.

Martin
Link Mauve: https://observe.jabber.network would also notify you before it'll expires. 😃
