  1. Ellenor Malik

    Why is my prosody crashing?

  2. tom

Can you provide a core dump, backtrace, log messages, or any more details that might help us determine the answer to your question Ellenor Malik?

  3. Ellenor Malik

tom: It generates none of these. Also, why aren't you in your tea pool?

  4. Martin

    Have you all logging disabled?

  5. Ellenor Malik

Martin: No. I actually do use debug logging.

  6. Ellenor Malik

    (If I'm not mistaken.{

  7. Martin

Then it's weird that you don't have any logs. Do you let systemd manage prosody? Maybe there's something in the journal or status output.

  8. jonas’

Ellenor Malik, did you check dmesg?

  9. Ellenor Malik

Plenty of running out of swap space, jonas' :D

  10. jonas’

did it get oomkilled then maybe?

  11. Ge0rG

speaking of which, my server is running at 5.7GB now

  12. jonas’

eating ram like other people have breakfast cereal?

  13. Martin

    Hungry yak?

  14. Ge0rG

it actually looks like the curve has flatten in the last five days

  15. Ge0rG

as opposed to some other widely circulated curve

  16. Arne

Hi, does this room not have an avatar? xD

  17. Arne

Nevermind I have a problem too. My users and I can send TXT or VCF files but can't download them in the Clients. But everything else just works fine. Only txt and vcf files didn't work. Did I misconfigured something with http upload? Http upload external works and shouldn't be the problem because the txt and vcf are small enough to go through the internal upload... Is the webserver the problem? I tried serveral settings but still not working...

  18. antranigv

    Rooms have avatars?

  19. Arne

Sure antranigv or how do you call it?

  20. Licaon_Kter

Arne: > Hi, does this room not have an avatar? xD Nobody set it up, no.

  21. Licaon_Kter

antranigv: > Rooms have avatars? Yup, eg. Conversations can set it if you're the admin and the server is recent enough

  22. Licaon_Kter

Arne: which clients? This sounds like a client or OS misshapen

  23. Arne

I tested with Conversations and pix art

  24. Licaon_Kter

Right, can you look in Conversations/Media/Conversations Files/ ?

  25. Arne

Yes, no txt or vcf files

  26. Arne

    Looks like a mime problem

  27. Arne

But I wonder why. I use external upload with prosody filer from Thomas Leister

  28. Licaon_Kter

So Conversations uploads fine, eg. You can download the link in the browser, but once received it can't be downloaded?

  29. Arne

Upload is fine but the download link begins with aesgcm://domain.com/...... And can't be opened in a Browser

  30. Link Mauve

Martin, I indeed don’t mind my JID/email being made public, you can find it on my website already.

  31. Link Mauve

And it’s somewhat easy to guess.

  32. Licaon_Kter

    Arne: change aesgcm to https

  33. Martin

Link Mauve: Good, now I'm relieved. 😃

  34. Arne

I did, and then it works in Browser

  35. Arne

I did, and then it works in a Browser

  36. Licaon_Kter

Arne: note tha you can't see the file since it's encrypted but you test only download

  37. Link Mauve

Martin, jonas’, my server went out-of-reach when the fiber technician came to put me on fiber, and now I have (another IP address and) fiber!!!!!!!!!

  38. Licaon_Kter

Link Mauve: DNS rejoice, v6 too?

  39. Martin

    Congratulations. 🎉

  40. Link Mauve

    Licaon_Kter, obviously. :p

  41. Link Mauve

    I’ve had IPv6 since 2007 with this ISP. :)

  42. Arne

    Link Mauve: yeahh congrats

  43. Link Mauve

Back then it was opt-in, now everyone gets it.

  44. Licaon_Kter

    That's great for you 😒

  45. Link Mauve

Arne, the upgrade was well worth it, it went from:

  46. Link Mauve

    https://pix.mathieui.net/o/jCLKX.png

  47. Link Mauve

    To:

  48. Link Mauve

    https://pix.mathieui.net/o/ASPFr.png

  49. Link Mauve

Now my server is bottlecked by my server. :D

  50. Arne

    😍

  51. Licaon_Kter

Link Mauve: wow, the old one was soooo low

  52. Link Mauve

Yeah, 80 KiB/s-ish of uplink was a bit low for hosting all of my services.

  53. Link Mauve

Especially in the odd case I shared a picture in a MUC, y’all would DDoS my connection. ^^'

  54. Licaon_Kter

I've got 300&6 so uploads are really fast which I guess looks good, downloads (ake uploads from server) can be slower since they're more likely to happen while the user doesn't look at them actively.

  55. Arne

I'm envy you xD. Fiber is too expensive here for me (3k €) but I think I have to take a credit soon xD

  56. Arne

  57. Ge0rG

I have an ISP that's claiming it's fiber but it's only DOCSIS

  58. Arne

But back to the main problem > Ich schrieb: > Nevermind I have a problem too. My users and I can send TXT or VCF files but can't download them in the Clients. But everything else just works fine. 59. Licaon_Kter

No fiber here, just coax, and they have a 500/25 plan too iirc. Looking at speedtest looks like that 300 went down to 25-200 yesterday and today, gotta call them up :t

  60. Licaon_Kter

Arne: yes, device issue I guess, which ROM?

  61. Arne

    Lineage OS 17

  62. Arne

    So Android 10

  63. Arne

    So Android 10: lineage_jfvelte-userdebug 10 QQ3A.200805.001

  64. Licaon_Kter

And other devices behave the same?

  65. Link Mauve

Arne, woah, you pay for fiber? It’s not your ISP or your town?

  66. Arne

yes Link Mauve plus 250€ for 250mbit synchron per month

  67. Link Mauve

    :o

  68. Licaon_Kter

Arne: that upload is 250 too? That's why

  69. Link Mauve

Where do you live, so that I never set foot there?

  70. jonas’

    I think there’s miscommunication here

  71. Arne

Yes Licaon_Kter and the file download does work on gajim

  72. Arne

    > Ich schrieb: > Yes Licaon_Kter and the file download does work on gajim But I try it on another Android now

  73. Arne

    Oh thanks a lot Licaon_Kter

  74. Arne

That really seems to be the problem > Licaon_Kter schrieb: > Arne: yes, device issue I guess, which ROM?

  75. Arne

That really seems to be the problem > Licaon_Kter schrieb: > Arne: yes, device issue I guess, which ROM? I just wonder what I can do with my device..

  76. Licaon_Kter

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  77. Arne

xD. I guess the good old Galaxy s4 has served its time
