  4. Arne

    new firewall :)

  5. Licaon_Kter

    https://www.jabber.de/ausfall-der-dienste/ MattJ: a Prosody issue?

  6. MattJ

Licaon_Kter, an upgrade to the new mod_pep (which supports persistence), but it was using the internal (file-based) storage which is not really adequate for thousands of users :)

  7. MattJ

Spent some time last night helping to migrate it to a database

  8. Arne

    oh

  9. Licaon_Kter

    MattJ: oh, lessons learned?

  10. MattJ

I think things are better organised now, e.g. it had community modules dropped into Prosody's source directory (bad practice, a nightmare when it comes to upgrades)

  11. Arne

mh how did you migrate from internal to external?

  12. Arne

I wanted to use PostgreSQL soon actually. But now I think to migrate now xX

  13. Arne

I wanted to use PostgreSQL soon actually. But now I think to migrate now xD

  14. MattJ

    Arne, mod_migrate

  15. Arne

    thanks again

  16. tom

    you all are very cool

  17. tom

    thanks for hosting this chat

  18. tom

    and doing what you do

  19. tom

    hosting our conversations and whatnot

  20. Link Mauve

MattJ, interesting, we’re using the same mod_pep setup with plain files and it hasn’t caused any issue that I know of.

  21. MattJ

Maybe you have more Pidgin users than Conversations users?

  22. MattJ

Prosody was using 100% CPU just churning through reading/writing OMEMO stuff to files

  23. Link Mauve

Oh, on a slow HDD I guess?

  24. Link Mauve

We now have about twice as many Conversations users than Pidgin users, progress!

  25. MattJ

    Congrats!

  26. Link Mauve

But Pidgin is still close second, with every other client being almost irrelevant.

  27. Link Mauve

    What depressing statistics…

  28. raucao

    ouch

  29. Martin

I'd have expected Gajim having also lots of users.

  30. Link Mauve

    Nope, not at JabberFR.

  31. Link Mauve

Like 40 max at a given time.

  32. Link Mauve

    (Out of like 800.)

  33. Martin

    Ugh

  34. Link Mauve

Martin, our stats are public fyi: https://stats.jabberfr.org/

  35. Martin

    Thx
