Hey all (I guess @here is not a thing yet), I'm about to transfer the jabber.network domain to Jonas Schäfer aka Jonas Wielicki aka jonas', who is currently running the search.jabber.network and observe.jabber.network services on it. I just wanted to put this out there to give people a chance to voice objections or suggest alternatives. I don't expect there to be any, but I'll wait a few days just in case.

seems like a technical change only, no? Maybe jonas’ can explain if he has further plans with it? I hope not to commercialize it, or add google trackers to the search.jabber.network page 😉

Kris, it mainly changes who’s paying for it ;). I don’t intend to commercialize on any of the jabber.network services (nor do I have to).

it’s also unrelated to who owns the domain :)

He doesn't need to own the domain if he wanted ro put trackers there.

I think the most important stakeholders are the client developers who have integrated the search page in their clients

but I don't see any of them complaining either

since this won’t change (future) reachability, it’ll hopefully be ok

there might be a brief disruption though depending on whether we get the zonefile transferred

Yeah he's already the only user of the domain (I just happened to have registered it at some point), so I don't expect there to be any change in usage. The only difference is that I can't take it down anymore if there would be abuse. But I suppose Jonas has a longer-standing reputation in the community, so that should be a good thing :)

It looks like someone with Google ISP IPs from Kalifornia USA tries to attack monocles again. Isn't there the Googleplex in kalifornia? 😅

I'm thinking about blocking all google ISP IPs ...
