XMPP Service Operators - 2021-04-15

  1. Misha

Hello! I would like my server exmpp.ru to be listed on xmpp.net. I found instructions on how to do it there. But I could not find the link itself, where to apply.

  2. Licaon_Kter

    Misha: listed as?

  3. Misha

    Licaon_Kter: what???

  4. moparisthebest

Misha, did you paste it in there and click the button

  5. Misha

Licaon_Kter: I don't understand what you mean yet

  6. Misha

    moparisthebest: what

  7. moparisthebest

Misha, sorry, what's your question ?

  8. Misha

sorry, I am here for the first time

  9. Licaon_Kter

Misha: do tell more about it, terms, policies, etc

  10. Misha

    Do you speak Russian?

  11. Licaon_Kter

Misha: no, can you read english? https://xmpp.net/register.php :)

  12. Misha

    Yes yes

  13. Misha

Licaon_Kter: I need to tell you now what is required there?

  14. MattJ

    Don't bother with xmpp.net

  15. Misha

    MattJ: why?

  16. MattJ

Because the site is old and barely maintained. It will likely be replaced at some point.

  17. Misha

MattJ: but Miranda NG takes the list from there

  18. MattJ

I'll keep that in mind :)

  19. Misha

I want to make my server popular

  20. MattJ

    I've heard that before :)

  21. MattJ

Important to users is that servers are reliable, trustworthy, and not going to disappear when the admin gets bored

  22. MattJ

    Not that they are popular

  23. Wiktor

Misha: is your server tested here? https://compliance.conversations.im/

  24. Misha

    Wiktor: not yet

  25. Licaon_Kter

Misha: > I want to make my server popular Wait...why?

  26. Misha

MattJ: I will take this matter seriously

  27. Misha

Wiktor: I want to add any XEP, then I will test my server

  28. Wiktor

    Misha: 👍

  29. rob

    Any xep or every xep?

  30. rob

    😊

  31. Misha

rob: any, but I will strive for what you add each

  32. rob

Misha: that really depends on the functionality you want to support

  33. rob

But as mentioned the conversations compliance suite is a good place to start

  34. Martin

MattJ: > I'll keep that in mind :) Why? Are you working on a replacement? Jonas already has done some work on xmpp.net v2 based on Festsäle.sh

  35. Martin

MattJ: > I'll keep that in mind :) Why? Are you working on a replacement? Jonas already has done some work on xmpp.net v2 based on testssl.sh

  37. Licaon_Kter

    Misha: 👍

  38. Misha

    Доступен = available

  39. Licaon_Kter

Misha: what server software? Openfire or Tigase? :)

  40. Misha

    Ejabberd, CentOS 7

  41. Licaon_Kter

    Easy to setup?

  42. Misha

for a start - yes, but further configuration will be more difficult. Everything works out of the box.

  43. rob

Very nice Misha, I run prosody and it's more work to get to that point, not too hard but more for sure

  44. MattJ

Martin, I'm not working on a replacement, but as the person primarily responsible for XSF infrastructure it will be something to take into consideration when we retire this service (that clients are using the data there)

  45. Misha

by the way, inband registration works on my server

  46. Misha

    Wiktor: 90% compliance test exmpp.ru

  47. Licaon_Kter

    Misha: what's missing?

  48. Misha

TURN (but STUN works), SRV, abuse contact and other connect method HTTP (but TCP socket works)

  49. Licaon_Kter

    Easy then :)

  50. Misha

I dont want TURN because STUN is works

  51. Misha

    :)

  52. Misha

Licaon_Kter: can we test voice calls?

  53. Licaon_Kter

    We? Nope :)

  54. Licaon_Kter

    > I dont want TURN because STUN is works > :) So one client on Wi-Fi and one on mobile data and STUN is enough?

  55. Misha

    > We? Nope :) Ok

  56. Misha

    > So one client on Wi-Fi and one on mobile data and STUN is enough? I think, yes

  57. Misha

Because mobile operator Tele2 supported Full Cone NAT default

  58. Misha

And many WIFI networks supported full cone nat

  59. Misha

    > Because mobile operator Tele2 supported Full Cone NAT default Support*

  60. Misha

    > Because mobile operator Tele2 supported Full Cone NAT default Supports*

  61. Misha

But mobile operator Beeline supports only symmetric NAT.

  62. Licaon_Kter

Not my experience. Some lucky ones, maybe. Hope all your users are using those :)

  63. tom

    What's the difference?

  64. tom

    Nat is nat

  65. tom

    Full cone? Symmetric?

  66. tom

I guess you could differentiate DNAT and SNAT
