Point is, it doesn't help to have a concept of on-topic if we don't enforce it. Just telling them multiple times doesn't help and just makes this room continue to be a real pain to follow because it's hard to separate the real information from the noise.

I tried setting up pleroma recently so that I could do some dev work on a mastodon/xmpp related plugin, but its dev setup had a *lot* of steps and I had problems with it. Finally got it running, but it reminded me why I don't like to run anything erlangy even though beam is a great VM.

(or anything that requires a VM; it always ends up with tons of config/steps for something that should have just been "create a config file and run an executable")

so I didn't get a good look at pleroma anyways; I'll have to try it again at some point.

I recently red somewhere that memory consuption of Pleroma is 4-5x lower on typical small instances
