It is a german server with ecological ambitions as i can read. I first thought it is a "trash metal" server. But looks like the word "trash" has a new meaning.

Holger
Then again it's the admin of metalhead.club 🙂

Anyway he's definitely a nice guy, knows what he's doing, and has been doing it for ages. Wouldn't have expected Licaon_Kter to see no response.
-
Licaon_Kter
I did have, my bad, I looked at my chat and totally ignore those red bubble ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
-
Licaon_Kter
Yes, it's a good server :)

kuba_: the eu parlament can not vote something like that because private communication is secret because of a fundamental right. You first have to abolish the fundamental right to put a parliamentary right above it.
-
kuba_
they already have
-
zp1.net
That may be, the eu parliament can do what it wants. The law will always be ignored in court because judges know the fundamental rights. There are many eu laws that are systematically ignored in court because a superior law is stronger.
-
zp1.net
Just one example: what do you do with notaries? Another example: is encryption illegal?
-
Licaon_Kter
Not illegal, if the proper backdoor for the good guys is available. :)

Surveillance of private communications is a dream as old as socialism itself. First the national socialists dreamed of it, then the global socialists, and now the communists.

discussion of political systems and what they like or don’t like is off-topic

A real socialist/communist country never exists. Maybe Paris Commune.

please stop it right here.

_xmpp-server.jabber.org?
-
moparisthebest
missing a _tcp in there
-
stpeter
zp1.net - I'm not seeing what you're seeing...
-
stpeter
zp1.net - I am seeing "expires on October 3, 2021" when I connect to jabber.org
-
stpeter
(I am connecting from a client, not a server.)

How are you folks checking the cert for 208.68.163.218? I am connected via xmpp (c2s) and it's fine, no warnings, expires in October.
-
moparisthebest
stpeter, I think he means `curl -v https://jabber.org` it only serves a redirect to www.jabber.org but that cert indeed expired July 5th
-
stpeter
oh hmm
-
moparisthebest
looks like an Apache server running on 208.68.163.218
-
stpeter
Yeah, all that does is redirect to www.jabber.org
-
stpeter
For very old historical reasons, we don't offer the jabber.org website without www because we didn't want to run an http daemon on the same machine running the xmpp daemon.
-

stpeter: jabber.org is old version of ejabberd? Maybe For this reason, errors occur
-
404.city
s2s error
-
stpeter
Well, I can restart the server again to see if that forces the new cert to be applied.
