  1. [czar]

    Any trashserver admin here?

  2. qy

    Licaon_Kter maybe

  3. Licaon_Kter

    qy: lol, nope

  4. millesimus

    [czar]: try xmpp:admin@trashserver.net (https://trashserver.net/en/contact/)

  5. Licaon_Kter

Yup, but I don't remember getting any answers in the past

  6. me9

    He answered my messages quickly.

  7. Licaon_Kter

    👍

  8. zp1.net

It is a german server with ecological ambitions as i can read. I first thought it is a "trash metal" server. But looks like the word "trash" has a new meaning.

  9. Holger

Then again it's the admin of metalhead.club 🙂

  11. Holger

Anyway he's definitely a nice guy, knows what he's doing, and has been doing it for ages. Wouldn't have expected Licaon_Kter to see no response.

  12. Licaon_Kter

I did have, my bad, I looked at my chat and totally ignore those red bubble ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  13. Licaon_Kter

    Yes, it's a good server :)

  14. Holger

    🙂

  15. zp1.net

kuba_: the eu parlament can not vote something like that because private communication is secret because of a fundamental right. You first have to abolish the fundamental right to put a parliamentary right above it.

  16. kuba_

    they already have

  17. zp1.net

That may be, the eu parliament can do what it wants. The law will always be ignored in court because judges know the fundamental rights. There are many eu laws that are systematically ignored in court because a superior law is stronger.

  18. zp1.net

Just one example: what do you do with notaries? Another example: is encryption illegal?

  19. Licaon_Kter

Not illegal, if the proper backdoor for the good guys is available. :)

  20. zp1.net

Surveillance of private communications is a dream as old as socialism itself. First the national socialists dreamed of it, then the global socialists, and now the communists.

    please stick to the topic

There is a right to privacy

  25. zp1.net

    jonas’: ssss

  26. 4223 (private)

    > Surveillance of private communications is a dream as old as socialism itself. First the national socialists dreamed of it, then the global socialists, and now the communists. I see more capitalist/imperialist/facist (name it like u like) which like surveillance, than others ever have done.

  27. jonas’

discussion of political systems and what they like or don’t like is off-topic

  28. 4223 (private)

A real socialist/communist country never exists. Maybe Paris Commune.

  29. jonas’

    please stop it right here.

The "jabber.org" certificate expired on 05 Jul 2021

  34. me9

    It's also expired for me.

  35. Ellenor Malik

    MattJ: Hello!

  36. zp1.net

jabber.org has address 208.68.163.218 ->> this one expired www.jabber.org is an alias for jabber2.github.io. ->> this one works

  37. Ellenor Malik

    _xmpp-server.jabber.org?

  38. moparisthebest

    missing a _tcp in there

  39. stpeter

    zp1.net - I'm not seeing what you're seeing...

  40. stpeter

    zp1.net - I am seeing "expires on October 3, 2021" when I connect to jabber.org

  41. stpeter

(I am connecting from a client, not a server.)

  44. stpeter

How are you folks checking the cert for 208.68.163.218? I am connected via xmpp (c2s) and it's fine, no warnings, expires in October.

  45. moparisthebest

stpeter, I think he means `curl -v https://jabber.org` it only serves a redirect to www.jabber.org but that cert indeed expired July 5th

  46. stpeter

    oh hmm

  47. moparisthebest

looks like an Apache server running on 208.68.163.218

  48. stpeter

Yeah, all that does is redirect to www.jabber.org

  49. stpeter

For very old historical reasons, we don't offer the jabber.org website without www because we didn't want to run an http daemon on the same machine running the xmpp daemon.

  50. 404.city

stpeter‎: jabber.org is old version of ejabberd? Maybe For this reason, errors occur

  51. 404.city

    s2s error

  52. stpeter

Well, I can restart the server again to see if that forces the new cert to be applied.
