Hi cryptonewbie, yes, its normal to be joined to different rooms for different topics. You will also see some users flucutate, since some have their user accounts offline during their nighttime.

cryptonewbie, Most rooms have a strict theme and deviation from the theme is penalized. This causes the rooms to be divided into many. General rooms often become trash heaps. General room xmpp:en@chat.404.city?join

Could make sense to emulate MAM MUC support from your server, so you can disconnect and get the full log.

But I guess this has to be investigated a bit more and to be written.
