    Oh wow XMPP does seem to work, just connected it just takes a loooong time.

    Whatsapp also uses (or can use) 5222 at least one time it did. And some other ports.

    Yeah, we're lucky - thanks to the popularity of Google Talk, Apple push notifications, and some other services, 5222/5223 are often on lists of allowed outgoing ports
