me9: > Setting a room to moderated is working well in the rooms I moderate. We haven't reverted, it's on all time. > You just need to check the praticipants list as a moderator from time to time and 'give voice' to new people (or they PM you if you're online). And it's good to have more than one admin so together you're active all day. I know MUCs which are moderated and have PMs deactivated. That's quite annoying if your client doesn't have the 'request voice' feature.

Licaon_Kter: jabber.org hasn't allowed new registrations for years
-
mathieui
I don't think it has for the last 10 years or so

hmmm, I wonder when jabber.org accounts will become valuable ;)

Damn, I donated mine to the conv. compliance tester.

MattJ: oh, interesting, an user was complaining that they can't omemo with other users on other servers
-
MattJ
It supports PEP, which should be the only server requirement, but... haven't tested OMEMO specifically

Not only does one need a client that has that feature, you also need a client that reacts to it. I heard that many clients just don't see that request if someone makes it. In the mucs I meant, we always allow private messages. So you're fully dependent on the admins there. Did you talk with them about that problem? What did they say?

Licaon_Kter: To answer your question, practically speaking, the admin team seems to be me and stpeter right now. I'm working on the migration to Prosody bit by bit. The XEP 227 updates and implementation will help greatly with that. I have a test export in the new format, and need to do a test run through the new import code in Prosody and verify the result. We're probably looking at a couple of days downtime in the near future for the final migration.

Don't remember whether they changed it in the meantime. But it was really bad as people tracked the admins in other mucs to make the request there. ๐
-
Licaon_Kter
MattJ: yeah, I was kinda remembering there was a migration ongoing, didn't know the status

me9: well as an admin one should know their tools and roughly the clients users would use. PMs have their downsides, eg. Private griefing

Hi. Does anyone happen to know what's happening with creep.im since yesterday's evening or so? Is it being DoSed or something? C2S connection takes insufferably long to establish, with failures, and drops quickly, not giving a chance to join any rooms
-
Ge0rG
Well, given that they are known for being a spam proxy for ~ a year now, I'm not sad about them going down.
-

Heh

Licaon_Kter
Ge0rG: you got spa still?
-
Ge0rG
Licaon_Kter: thousands of spam messages a week
-
Licaon_Kter
I meant from creep.im?!
-
Ge0rG
Licaon_Kter: ah, no. nothing in the logs for the last two weeks at least.

creep.im seems to be back to normal now *evil laughter*
