Hello. Hope all is well. I have a friend who's trying to connect with me through the client Pidgin. I see from my end and his end that his account is not authorized. Need to know what me must do to connect.

My username is in the form xxxxxx@pidginchat.com/ (XMPP).

Nick E.H.: can you use a currently developed client, like Gajim or Dino instead?

I haven't tried tried those before, Licaon.

Pidgin is like 4-5 years old so things might be broken...

Not authorized...who sees that message and where?

I saw info. about Dino on prism-break.org (unable to access this site lately. Don't know why.)I just never tried out the client.

Both my friend and I see it on both his end and mine.

I think that only his account is not authorized.

Try to get dino.im or Gajim 1.3 and make test accounts on conversations.im so you see a working client and server Then you can look at your clients and servers to judge what's the issue.

Note that conversations.im accounts are free for the first 6 months only, then one gotta pay to maintain the service

That's through Pidgin.

Unfortunately Pidgin got the marketing in the past as a client...so many get the same guides recommending it...but it's not up to date anymore hence it might leave a bad impression on xmpp...

Which OS do you two use?

I use Linux Mint. He uses Debian.

Dino nightly builds should cover you both, with Audio/Video calls too ;)

We don't know, also kinda skeptic on various `privacysitename.tld` that pop up after prism and whatnot

Licaon_Kter: I think Pidgin is a few more than 5 years behind, isn't it? More like... 10? Weird that they bother maintaining a public XMPP service if they're not bothering bothering to actually keep up with the XMPP protocol support in Pidgin....
