Some scripts keep me on 6 too, one can't downgrade if 7 breaks them, right?

routerOS is the default mikrotik firmware? Is it proprietary?
-
Maranda
That's some rather controversial argument apparently

Maranda
myjabber1337: erm not really, kernel and toolchains are rest isn't

Maranda
You can request media with Opensource parts to be shipped, and that is the controversial part

rOS is propietary but if you are looking for industrial grade network appliances u dont have much FLOSS offers ... for instance Cisco, Mikrotik, Avaya, Juniper, etc. are all propietary ... the better thing that u can do is check if the hardware that u are buying has compatability with any other FLOSS I bought mine having that in mind, it's an old MIPS by today's standards supported by OpenWRT but didnt change it coz rOS is rock solid for my usecase and never had an issue
