    also bots use certificate's alt-names to scan around even some names don't exist in dns anymore. i think ( i don't do it yet? ) one certificate per service-group sounds good.

    yes, but ... So lets say it depends on the design of the server/service what is better suited.

    Yes, actually I've one server with wildcard. And another where I do http challenge with single certs for every service... So I use both 😄

    What's the issue? You can easily check whether a wildcard is used or not for any service…

    yes but the world don't need know which cert is located on which machine. when they do they can narrow their target range.

    Its not a secret, everyone connecting to my server can see it.. It's not security by obscurity. I only make it harder for people to know all my subdomains in use.. But I don't rely on *that*

    Sorry guys, this is XMPP-Service-Operator-MUC. Every year in december the whole hacker-world try to enter forign systems and it would be nice to get an information about a compromenticed xmpp before they knock on my system. Therefor, please keep this MUC clean for xmpp-ops Thanx
