  1. Aarti

    dns break for conference.trashserver.net ?

  2. Menel

    No, it works

  3. Aarti

    is your response cached?

  4. Aarti

    I get no response from 1.1.1.1, 9.9.9.9, and 8.8.8.8

  5. p42ity

    Seems like dismail has/had a downtime: https://stats.uptimerobot.com/36295txok

  6. p42ity

I cannot resolve dismail.de using a DNS. Seems to be a DNS problem.

  7. stefan

    core-networks.de (dns provider) is down.

  8. p42ity

I think my DNS knowledge is not good enough but it is enough that this provider is down to produce such a big problem?

  9. p42ity

    dismail just communicated this: https://social.anoxinon.de/@dismail@social.tchncs.de/110264972768382509

  10. ernst.on.tour

Roi: Jabber.hot-chilli.net & Co is down Jabber.hot-chilli.net/statistics hangs since 30min

  11. stefan

    > that this provider is down to produce such a big problem? Yes, because core-networks is serving trashserver.net and dismail.de DNS domain.

  13. p42ity

I am wondering, why dismail has such a short TTL

  14. moparisthebest

Why doesn't your DNS server serve stale records if upstream is unreachable?

  15. moparisthebest

    https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc8767

  16. stefan

    > I am wondering, why dismail has such a short TTL The TTL in the picture shows how long until the cached entry expires. The TTL is 1800s.

  17. deimos

lots of places do that because they think it's best practice or they're about to change IPs around

  18. MattJ

or, like me, I lower them due to a change, and plan to raise them again "after everything has been running smoothly for a while"

  19. MattJ

    Then promptly forget

  20. p42ity

    Thanks for your explanations.

  21. moparisthebest

    ^ me

  22. Maranda[x]

To the admins of xabber.de, your service taking effect now is prevented from federation to any Aria Network's related XMPP service. Be advised to clean up the nazi junk in your userbase and only then your position *may* be reconsidered. Bests.

  24. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

Is xabber.de a very big server? The domain sounds familiar, maybe I am thinking of the client xabber

  25. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

    🤔

  26. Roi

    > Roi: > Jabber.hot-chilli.net & Co is down > Jabber.hot-chilli.net/statistics hangs since 30min Yeah we had a technical problem, but everything is up and running again.

  27. nuegia.net

i keep getting spammed 'Unknown error' repeatily by steam.jabber.hot-chilli.net

  28. nuegia.net

despite logging off of the transport on all clients

  29. nuegia.net

    it's really annoying

  30. nuegia.net

how can i get statistic varibles out of prosody like this https://jabber.hot-chilli.net/statistics/ ?

  31. MattJ

    Preferably not like that 😅

  32. MattJ

(I have been advising Roi to move to a better monitoring solution)

  33. MattJ

The recommended way is to use https://prosody.im/doc/modules/mod_http_openmetrics

  34. Roi

    > Preferably not like that 😅 Pffff :-D

  35. jonas’

if you insist on munin, at least use mod_munin from modules.prosody.im :-)

  36. Roi

    > i keep getting spammed 'Unknown error' repeatily by steam.jabber.hot-chilli.net I would think that you once created a user with this transport. The transport is not flapping, but no idea if it ever worked / works.

  37. Roi

    > (I have been advising Roi to move to a better monitoring solution) Too many changes at once. I am happy that I finally upgraded to Bullseye and 0.12 ;-)

  38. jonas’

    (mod

  39. jonas’

(mod_munin integrates into the openmetrics infrastructure which exists in prosody since 0.11 (I think))

  40. Lightning Bjornsson

    cartridge of misery

  41. Maranda

    > <Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire> Is xabber.de a very big server? The domain sounds familiar, maybe I am thinking of the client xabber Whether it's related or not is irrelevant it has been source of abuse multiple times, so in the light of my renewed zero-tollerance mood on others housekeeping matters.. it's good to go.

  42. nuegia.net

i'm not really sure what the openmetrics protocol is I was hoping to just have a way to expose some statistic varibles for integration into Net-SNMP as an snmp extension OID for use an in existing monitoring application

  43. nuegia.net

Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire, Xabber is the homeserver an a TK or athena based xmpp client that used to be popular but hasn't been maintained much as of late

  44. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

    >> <Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire> Is xabber.de a very big server? Understanable

  45. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

    > Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire, Xabber is the homeserver an a TK or athena based xmpp client that used to be popular but hasn't been maintained much as of late I see

  46. nuegia.net

Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire, No wait i'm sorry. I must be confusing it with something else. It's an android and web based xmpp client https://www.xabber.com/

  47. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

That is what I was thinking of

  48. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

    Yeah

  49. Tristan Brice Velloza Kildaire

    🤣
