  1. gooya

hi, does xmpp make use of Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP)?

  2. winnie

    no

  3. gooya

winnie: Are you sure? And what about Reliable Datagram Socket (RDS)? I don't think it does but I just wanted to ask and make sure before disabling it.

    > gooya: This might be useful to you: https://xmpp.org/about/technology-overview/ Quinn: This isn't new to me. I guess the answer to my original quedtion is 'no'. As xmpp only uses tcp and udp and sctp is another protocol unrelated to xmpp.

  6. Quinn

Ah okay, I was thinking it mentioned the standards involved

  7. moparisthebest

Nothing makes use of sctp because middleboxes make it impossible to deploy a new IP based protocol on the internet, quic is kinda sctp on top of UDP for that reason

  8. Ellenor Bjornsdottir

    mittelboxen get confeuf.

  9. winnie

does rds even go over wan?

  10. agh

Shame we can not have nice things like SCTP
